Snotty Nose Rez Kids tore into the music scene with unmistakeable talent and an unforgettable name. Showing off their lyrical prowess and natural storytelling ability, Yung Trybez and Young D jumpstarted the band with two back-to-back albums in 2017. Their follow up album, 2019’s TRAPLINE, really launched their career with hit “Boujee Natives,” and multiple awards including their first Juno nomination. The band took their high voltage live show on the road and clocked 100 shows in 6 different countries. SNRK have gone on to dominate in Hip-Hop music, most recently achieving their biggest milestone, signing to Sony Music. BIOGRAPHY:

Conceived and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Strife Asaakeezis born (Gabriel Guiboche) has honed his artistic skills through a combination hip-hop, rap, and r&b. His honest music sheds light on the struggle Indigenous people face everyday and gives hope to his listeners. Presently, Strife is working on a series of projects that will be released shortly on iTunes and various online media outlets. He is also collaborating with other artists, motivational speakers, and workshop coordinators and facilitators on projects that will benefit his Indigenous community, and the world as a whole. "Your music saved my life," is not an uncommon message for Strife to receive from his fans and supporters who have been suicidal, destructive, and lost like he was.

Living in numerous broken homes Strife experienced many extreme forms of abuse and violence growing up which influenced him to use drugs and alcohol to cope with the heavy pain. Constant movement and family dysfunctions lead to living on the streets as he became familiar with the worst areas of the city plagued with gang activity. Often being the only native in his class as a child and during high school, experiencing discrimination and racism left him feeling out of place. Being aware of the historical and present lies taught about his people (Anishinaabe – Ojibwe & Cree, Sioux – Lakota, Aztec, and Metis) in class influenced him to spend less time attending school and more time out in dangerously troubled neighborhoods.

In cold, musty, bare basement studios in these crime ridden areas is where Strife began to hone his skills as a music artist and producer, expressing the life he experienced. Time spent in the studio was time avoided getting into trouble and offered a creative way of releasing frustrations and pains that tormented him throughout his lifetime.

Today, Strife uses motivational speaking, creative workshops, and his music in a powerful way to reach his listeners, giving hope and a place to belong.

Not having his own positive role model lead him to get clean and sober and become one himself to guide others in a healthy way. Sad to say, he says falling down is inevitable from time-to-time even for the best of us and is not hesitant to express his faults.

Strife has traveled to many Indigenous communities, speaking with the Chiefs to help the community members by addressing relevant issues in his speeches and performances like suicide, bullying, and violence. Many fans have come forward expressing how Strife has impacted their lives positively through his gifts of speech and music which has always been his mission, to reach his former self (that he sees in his people) and provide some motivation. Bringing together a young father and son and ultimately a family as a whole during one of his community visits has been a highlight of his career.

Though life has been a constant struggle and far too many times fatal, Strife is grateful for the knowledge and uses it in a creative way to help and relate to others that have lived through the same experiences. Surviving violence against women and children, Strife wants to bring back the Indigenous matriarchal society where women ran communities and men protected them as supportive warriors. His dream is to provide his children the chances he never had at fulfillment and a healthy lifestyle.
