Ocean Fresh Productions stands for quality in music and substance in lyrics. We set a high expectation for ourselves in order to stand out among the masses, working as a collaboration of friends and artists together for a positive cause. By supporting each other, sharing ideas and staying motivated we are moving towards become a succesful Hip-Hop label. Within the label there are many skilled artists and producers, some younger and others in the field for over 10 years. Together they are helping Smoky with online promotion, marketing and other creative ideas to get the word out and reach more fans. Musically each member is working on developing there own solo talents as well as collaborting on as many projects as possible. Our goal is to put out dope new albums for each artist on the label, as well as projects with all of us together as a group. Smoky explains that everything we plan to achieve has already been done by someone else in our shoes, so we have plenty of tips and advice to help us on our path. Steven J. Rogers, known as Jyrice (pronounced /dʒaɪˈriːs/, jy-rece), is an American Singer-Songwriter, Producer, and Actor.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, he began his musical journey in church and performed in various singing competitions as a child. Jyrice first began producing music in 2000, and later released his track “Feeling Like This” in 2010 under record label [[BlueRecords]], followed by projects titled ”Can’t Believe” and “Again.”

"According to Jyrice, “Again” examines the “loneliness felt from an unhealthy relationship.” This emotionally heavy topic is tonally conveyed from beginning to end. 

Simple, yet vivid lyrics display images associated with pain and helplessness. The metaphor of being stabbed is particularly central to the song. Jyrice describes “laying on the ground” with “no one here to pull the knife out”, and maintains this metaphor throughout the track, adding after these lines that “It hurts, it stings/ I want to scream/ but I’m just bleeding out right now”. The obvious pain associated with being stabbed is displayed through this metaphor, but beyond that, there is a feeling of vulnerability that pervades these lines. 

These violent and dark images sharply contrast with the soft and heartfelt piano melody and the light and subtle strings. This contrast displays the confusion and frustration that may be felt from understanding that staying in an unhealthy relationship will only lead to more pain, but being unwilling or unable to leave."

Smoky Mirror is a conscious hip-hop artist from Denman Island, located off the west coast of BC. His name is an analogy for life; the human mind is like a smoke screen that covers the true reflection of our inner spirit. Growing up surrounded by nature and a small community of supportive people heavily influenced his musical style and creative outlook. 

He has been organizing and performing at various events and concerts for the past seven years. In 2009, he co-founded a successful hip-hop movement in the Comox Valley called Ancient Principals. This hip-hop crew put together hype new shows every month for close to two years. Later on, he launched his first big release called, Everythings a Soundwave. Throughout his musical journey, Smoky has shared the stage with hip-hop legends like Sweatshop Union, Snak The Ripper, Ishkan, Just-B, DJ Murge and EpedeMIC. 

Now, based in Victoria, BC, he is ready to release his new album, Surrey Struggles. Smoky is continually learning new techniques to take his music to the next level.
