Zadig kicks off the new Morrocan imprint, Sotor Records featuring remixes from heavyweight techno talents Perc and Oscar Mulero.
Zadig is a French techno artist who has roots that date back to the 90s. He has played at major festivals and clubs globally and has an enviable discography that takes in vital releases on Deeply Rooted House, Tresor, Syncrophone Recordings and many more. He is also part of the Unforeseen Alliance live project with Voiski, Antigone, and Birth of Frequency, who are label mates on his Construct Re-Form imprint.
The first release, ‘Space Time ‘الزمكان EP is about the lines of physics and metaphysics. Zadig kicks off the EP with the hammering فق الحدث - 'Event Horizon' (Day Is Dying Mix), an all-out assault slammer with wall rattling synths and punchy drums. Perc has done everything from industrial noise to acerbic techno on his own Perc Trax label and a host of other fine and well-regarded outlets. Here the UK mainstay remixes فق الحدث - 'Event Horizon' into a white knuckle ride with synths and snares fired out of a machine gun across the face of a tight, flat-footed liner techno groove. It's perfectly pure and intense techno.
Zadig's next original is السببیة ال دائریة – 'Circular Causality' and is a hyper-speed, rubbery cut with coarse hits and soaring leads that drive into the future. There is a raw funk in the beats that make it all the more irresistible. Oscar Mulero is a towering presence on the European techno scene and has been for years. The Spaniard is السببیة ال دائریة Warm Up Recordings label boss and a regular on the label and sub-label Pole Group. Here he flips – 'Circular Causality' into a pounding weapon with expansive kicks, highs balanced with dark, shadowy bass that makes it all the more compelling as your mind gets twisted inside out.
There are no-nonsense, high-grade techno tracks designed to make an unforgettable impact, which they do with effortless style.

Marcal is back for round two on Dustin Zahn’s Enemy Records with “Cyber Dystopia.” Marcal’s trademark grooves and clever vocal processing make this one of his most exciting and hypnotic records yet. It’s pure class…there isn’t much else to say!

BUT we have to try anyway…
“Cyber Dystopia” starts off with Bionic Jungle, a trippy peak time roller sprinkled with uh, lifeforms or something? We haven’t been able to identify them, which is just proof that Marcal is living on another planet we haven’t been to yet. We’re standing by for the invite.

Moravex’s Paradox picks up where Bionic Jungle left off…chugging along in his signature style. It’s loopy. It’s tooly…but still heavy on the grooves, making it a perfect fit in deep and peak time sets alike.

Nothing About the United States hits a little harder and darker. Dissonant drones and catchy sound design take over, flipping the switch from “party” to “punish.” For fans of his recent track on Enemy, “Never Wrote This.”

Don’t Fear the Three is a classic Marcal percussive workout in heads-down mode. It’s as equally powerful as every other track on the record.

“Cyber Dystopia” is all about the world we are living in right now: artificial intelligence, smart houses, smartphones, self-driving cars, deepfakes, fake news, cybernetic warfare, metaverse, social networks, the internet of things, machine learning, virtual reality...
We are definitely entering a new stage of civilization, the post-modern era.
But,
Are we living an 'apocalypse of self-abdication' already? Or we are, as humans, simply evolving as technology evolves? There will ever be a limit to technology? Will it help as much it can also destruct?
