This mix is dedicated to my dear sister, Sarah. A lot of the same tracks I just recorded were played at an intimate get-together at her place over the weekend. It was one of the first times I REALLY felt the energies and love being exchanged throughout our tiny dance floor. A lot of "Oohs, Aahs, Wowws, Ouffs" were being ping ponged, and all the love and groove fueled me to go for a few hours. 

After being in attendance in front of my favorite DJ's this past month. I couldn't help but wonder what goes on in THEIR heads. Everything, for the most part, sounds so effortless and smooth. I read a couple Acid Pauli interviews, and his answers to some of the questions hit home. He was asked what goes into his preparation for a DJ set, and what goes on in his head while he's playing and mixing records. He made a great analogy of how he's like a bus driver. He's responsible to get the party/dancers safely from point A to point B, and without too much turbulence. It doesn't really matter how you get there, as long as you get them to their destination safe, and they have fun along the way. He also said  his best performances are when he's in a meditative zen state. The tracks literally pick themselves and you feel in the zone. 

This was happening a lot on Saturday. A lot of the "Oohs and ahhs" I was hearing were coming from Sarah's cute voice. This mix was originally going to be dedicated to her sister Raquel as a duo dedication, (its 2 hours instead of 1 for a reason) but I would be selling Raq short if I dedicated this to her too. I promise yours is coming soon, Raq. It's going to be totally your style of music too lol. Plus, Sarah came up to me while I was in deep and goes,  "Who do you think you are huh? You think you're better than Digweed bro??" That made me chuckle hard and boosted me. So, you win Serraaaaa!

One more important realization was had after recording Sarah's mix last night. Taking Acid Pauli's bus driver analogy, a mix can also be like making a really good salad. I had all the same ingredients (the same tracks) on Saturday, but they sound totally different now that I made a new mix with them. Sometimes putting too much dressing or seasoning can make the salad taste completely different. It just goes to show that the energy, love, and fun that was being shared Saturday night helped me make for a REALLY good, tasty, and mean salad. Nonetheless, I'm still proud of the dish I served last night. A LOT of important lessons were learned. 

We went on IG live last night, and right as I started Talin says, "Holy shit, DJ TENNIS is watching!".... BRO, WHAT? lmao talk about being in your head right from the start. It might have been one of those accidental, finger-slipping, live entrances. It made me shit my pants regardless. 

One last thing: I learned I'll never press play on anything I don't like. I've been doing tons of homework trying to find good records. It takes hours of digging to find only one good track, but when you do, it's like striking gold. The excitement to play it for my friends/fam, and to see their happy reactions is what it's all about. All the gold was for you that night, Sarah! I love you! and I love the rest of you too! Thank you for lending me your ears and eyes. Hope you enjoy!

Holosound (aka Alex Fish) is a DJ/Producer from NYC that’s been at it since 2004. The past decade+ has seen him dot the globe with appearances in over 23 countries, every major city in the US and release records and remixes on labels like Nurvous, HNQO’s Playperview, Glasgow Underground and (a long time ago) Ultra.

His sound has evolved over the years but has always maintained a subversively sexy vibe that’s built atop a bed of low slung deep and afro house with a sweet spot for melodic techno.  Notable gigs in the last few years include Gazgolder in Moscow, D-Edge in Sao Paolo, Tulum, Helsinki, Rio De Janeiro, Dubai, Toronto, Bogota, Kazantip festival for Flying Circus, London, Medellin, Panama City, San Jose Costa Rica, Quito, Piknic Électronik in Montreal as well as appearances at Burning Man for Robot Heart and many more.

He is a resident of the talented Bespoke Musik crew and when in New York can often be found playing for their events or at the newly reopened Gospel in Soho.

With a bigger emphasis on instrumental improvisation, they will take listeners into a ninety minutes colorful voyage.

Christian acquired his love of electronic while growing up in the UK. It wasn’t until he moved to New York, however, that he would attend his first underground party and find the sound that would capture him and inspire him to step behind the decks himself. Since then, Christian has become a staple of the underground scene, a party enthusiast, and an avid techno tourist.

After some time as a free agent, Christian’s sophisticated taste in music earned him a residency for Bespoke Musik where he has entranced audiences with thoughtful, layered DJ sets. His music blends a focus on the low end frequencies with a melodic, sometimes melancholic touch. The end result is just as suited to a nightclub dancefloor as a desert sunset, with enough versatility for everything in between.

Some of his notable bookings include Gazgolder and Leveldva in Moscow, Café D’ Anvers in Antwerp, Sisyphos in Berlin, Output and Cityfox in Brooklyn, Do Not Sit on the Furniture and The Electric Pickle in Miami, and Robot Heart and the 747 at Burning Man. With the upcoming creation of Bespoke Musik’s record label in early 2021, expect to hear Christian’s first original productions, as well as a preview of his upcoming music project.
