2020 Random (recent)

Kuwaiti Samri is Gulf folk music with a gentle 2/4 sway and a soft frame-drum pulse. In many gatherings you hear interlocking handclaps and chant-like refrains that rise and settle with a warm communal feel. This piece offers a modern instrumental take that features violin as a surrogate for the genre’s lead vocals. The usual call and response is set aside so the core sway remains, carried by a singing melodic line while a quiet frame drum keeps time. The result is intimate and cyclical, with phrases that lean into the beat, float above it, and return to the theme for a calm, hypnotic flow. It gives first-time listeners a clear window into Samri’s rhythmic heart without the crowd energy that typically surrounds it.

[CREATIVE NOTE]
This arrangement adopts the violin as the principal melodic voice throughout, drawing on the Kuwaiti ṣawt tradition to stand in for Samri’s vocal line. Violin is not standard in classic Samri settings. Its use here is an intentional compositional choice that preserves the style’s gentle sway and measured cadence while presenting the melody instrumentally for clarity and learning.

Im Rahmen unserer Aktion Schöne-Festival-Empfehlung 2017 präsentieren wir euch heute eine traumhafte Afterhour unseres lieben Freundes Matti aka Mattmosphere für das bezaubernde Mit-Dir-Festival.
 
Matti hatte uns vor einem halben Jahr auf das Mit-Dir-Festival aufmerksam gemacht und auch den Kontakt hergestellt - daraus ist auch gleich eine super Verbindung entstanden … nochmals Merci an dieser Stelle.

Das Mit-Dir findet in diesem Jahr vom 28. - 31. Juli 100 km südöstlich von Berlin in Klingemühle statt. Viel mehr als 1000 Besucher werden es nicht. Also kann man sich auf ein familiäres Festival umgeben von Wiesen, Wäldern und Seen freuen. Neben dem Mainfloor auf dem es ein wenig knackiger zur Sache geht, gibt es den kleineren entspannten “Mühlenfloor” auf dem vorwiegend entschleunigte elektronische Musik gespielt wir, quasi Mattis Spezialität und damit auch seine Bühne für dieses Jahr.

Es ist ein gutes Jahr her als uns Mattmosphere über den Weg bzw. über die Ohren gelaufen ist. In diesem einem Jahr ist viel passiert. Mit zahlreichen Podcasts für Gedankenklang e.V., elektroaktivisten, oder Fabelwesen unterstreicht Matt seine Liebe zur Musik. Bei jedem seiner Podcasts setzt sich Matt sowohl mit der Podcast-Reihe als auch mit sich selbst auseinander und schafft es immer wieder eine runde Geschichte mit diesem gewissen unbeschreiblich tollen roten Faden zu erzählen.
 
Aus Berlin ist Matt eigentlich nicht mehr wegzudenken. Überall da wo wunderschöne Partys entstehen ist er anzutreffen, ob als Musikgestalter oder als Gast. Seine Familie ist unter anderem das Sound-Kollektiv Drosssel, sein kleines Kollektiv Akasha und auch mit dem Party-Kollektiv Ram Schakl ist er mehr als nur freundschaftlich verbunden. 
 
Was schreibt Matti über sich selbst?
 
„What I love is to create a unique atmosphere,“ Matti says. „Ideally, you find yourself in a deeply relaxed vibe you didn’t even know you were ready for. I want to be your musical companion and helper for any emotional state you might be in.“
 
Dem ist eigentlich nichts mehr hinzuzufügen --- außer danke lieber Matti für deine umwerfend schöne Festival-Interpretation von Afterhour Sounds … wir sind überwältigt. Two weeks ago, I finally had a flight to Odessa, Ukraine for a very anticipated gig at Caleton after 5 months without touring. During the last years, I had the chance to play several times in Kyiv and Kharkiv.
I felt great connection with the Ukrainian crowd and I know that a many people in Odessa have been waited to hear me playing there for the first time. When I arrived to Odessa I made a COVID-19 test at the airport and unfortunately, the results came positive. I was very sad from the news, but especially for not being able to play on this occasion for my fans. Due to the positive test, I was forced to be in isolated for 14 days in the hotel room at Odessa. For any person that suffers from panic attacks, like me, It's a really tough experience to be locked in a hotel room in a foreign country without any possibility to get out. I had no other choice but to stay strong and overcome this depressing situation, so I decided to sweeten it a bit by making a special podcast of the tunes I've been listening to during the isolation and helped me get through the days.
Sharing this kind of podcast with almost non-electronic tunes is definitely a new experience for me as are usually used to hearing electronic stuff from me, so I hope that you'll like it too.
In addition, I want to say a big thanks to Slava & Maxim from Eleatics Records, Angelov from Diynamic and to Moti, Markus & Jero my agents for their caring and arranging my stay in Ukraine in the best way possible, I really appreciate it.

After half a decade of constant touring and producing, it’s safe to say Kadosh’s growth has been truly remarkable. These days, he regularly crisscrosses the globe, playing at some of the planet’s leading spots. A typical weekend can be Blue Marlin in Ibiza, Nitsa in Barcelona, Fabric in London, or Watergate in Berlin.

The Americas have also quickly fallen under his spell, with Central America regularly experiencing his dancefloor wizardry, whether it’s at Bar Americas in Mexico, Stereo in Montreal, or SXM Festival in the Caribbean. In 2024, Kadosh expanded his horizons further, with summer residencies in Ibiza and Cyprus.
