Ebo acknowledges the influence of US jazz rockers Blood Sweat & Tears and
– less obviously, perhaps – Deep Purple on this easy going mid-tempo

Acclaimed indigenous vocalist Emma Donovan and Melbourne rhythm combo The PutBacks come together to bring you Dawn, an LP of hard hitting and heartfelt soul songs telling stories of grief, struggle and redemption. Emma grew up singing church songs with her maternal grandparents on the North coast of New South Wales. Her first secular gigs were singing in The Donovans, a band comprised of her mother and five uncles. With her mother, Emma sang country for years, and in her youth was a fixture at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, but she always yearned for the bluesier tones of her Father’s record collection, full of American artists like Laverne Baker and Etta James and Indigenous Australian artists like No Fixed Address and Archie Roach.

Years later, after touring and recording with many of the mainstays of Indigenous music and developing as a solo artist in her own right, Emma met members of The PutBacks, and finally she found a band with the gritty blues soaked tones she had been looking for. She also found, in PutBacks bassist Mick Meagher, a co-writer and collaborator on the the soul songs she had been waiting a lifetime to write and sing. The results are well worth the wait and hopefully, only mark the beginning of this oh-so-right collaboration.

Recently re-released on Colemine Records, by The Flying Stars Of Brooklyn NY.
I've extended the intro and far too short break, and added a few tweaks to increase the playing time.
Also had to add some wise words from Herbie Hancock at the beginning to get round the copyright filter.

A week ago I downloaded fLako's beattape 'Leftovers' with tracks he produced in 2008 and I felt so inspired by what I heard I managed to write four songs in like an hour. So I decided to do 'Quattro'. 

I call it an EP but it's more like just one 8-minute song, an illustrated journey into the wild in four parts, combined with mixed sounds I was hearing at that time, both from close surroundings and in my imagination. 

Quattro means 'four' in Italian, and all of the four songs are recorded in my home during the past week.

Hello this is Kae - i'm a singer/songwriter based in Berlin. 

My music is influenced by hip-hop, neo-soul and jazz music combined with future beats. After realeasing my first mixtape 'Yasmine Bey' in early 2012, in march 2012 I was invited to join the first italian Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp which was like a life changing experience, and after that I released and Ep called 'Quattro' - that is four tracks I wrote in a week using beats from fLako's tape 'Leftovers'.

I've collaborated with a lot of producers worldwide, most notably with Elaquent on his album 'The Scenic Route' and Morphosis on 'What Have We Learned'. I'm working on my next ep and doing live shows with my band - Steven Smirney (synths, programming) and Autre (Drums).
