robinson (live excerpt)

Improvised music made live with the outcomes of the Ripley, an instrument occupied with the generation and processing of all colours of noise, designed through alchemical discoveries made by the British alchemist George Ripley in the 15th century. 
Noise, colours, lightning, square waves, vomited wings and feathers. Mashed through clocks and salt and fed by mercury to feed the final output, the Toad, - the gold? 
2024 and we are joined by the Worm on vocals.

Kaffe Matthews is a pioneering composer and sound artist who works live with data, things and places worldwide to make new electroacoustic music for wide ranging audiences. Violin, theremin, star maps, NASA scientists, sharks, children and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra have all contributed to a growing body of work for sites such as concert halls, sonic bikes, public spaces and the human body. She received a BAFTA in 2004 for Weightless Animals, in 2006 a Distinction, Prix Ars Electronica for Sonic Bed_London  and a NESTA Dreamtime Fellowship.  She is an Honorary Professor of Music at the Shanghai Music Conservatory, and was the first Edgar Varèse Guest Professor, DAAD, at TU Audio Communications, Berlin. 

She has been releasing solo works on Annette Works since 1996. In 2014 she established The Bicrophonic Research Institute(BRI) and is currently developing interactive Sensory Bikes and compositions for them, having made 10 international bike operas to date.
