After an incredible CLOSE Tour in Paris, Glasgow and London we are leading into another crazy week, the annual Amsterdam ADE conference.  This year is a special one for me as I’ll be doing a special extended set on Friday October 19th  for Loveland's new All-Nighters concept at Warehouse Houthavens, which gives me plenty of time to weave in and out of lots of special sounds, frequencies and rhythms.  To get you through the week here is the recording of my BPM festival set from just a few weeks ago, which will surely get you in the mood and give you a taste of what to expect on Friday night!

On a cold and hazy winter night, walking along a dark deserted street, I was overcome by an uncomfortable yet strangely familiar feeling - paralysed by a sense of anxious foreboding, I suddenly was blinded by a brilliant light above and against my own comprehensive faculty was stretched into the sky, the accelerating velocity ejecting my body and mind out of Earth’s stratosphere. Subsequently, I was tossed far into the depth of our solar system - its vast space, distant planets and rocky asteroid belts - and down into the abyss of my subconscious mind.

NYX RITUAL VII - SHROUDS

For the second anniversary of our mix series and the next chapter, we turn to local operative [currently Chicago based] @nervous-operator. By turns sublime, moody and tense the mix unravels in just over an hour with the expert stride and compelling cadence you would expect from a studied musical talent and master storyteller. 

Nervous Operator is Sacred Sound Club member SP Davis' electronic project. Bringing together influences from dub, industrial and techno, his music is made for nocturnal urban wandering. His next release, recorded during a residency at the Portland Synth Library, will be released on Collapsed Structures at the beginning of summer 2019. His last release, Incoherent Reflections, is available digitally or on cassette via lapsedrecords.bandcamp.com.

Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring was visceral, violent, garish, primitive in its explosion of polyrhythms, dissonances, and shrieking orchestral effects.
Hugh Wolff, Stanford and Norma Jean Calderwood Director of Orchestras, and the New England Conservatory Philharmonia celebrated the centennial in this performance recorded April 24, 2013 in Jordan Hall, Boston.
