Next up on All Centre is Jordan-based artist Toumba with three club-ready cuts. On the title track, Toumba excels in tension-building as the bass-heavy track warps into tripped-out drums and rising drones. 

This is the first time Toumba has released on a label with his two previous releases being pushed on his own Bandcamp page. He is a master in percussion and often brings together traditional folklore from Jordan and the Arab Peninsula and contemporary UK club sounds. Toumba also has a residency on Ma4azef called Gate 4, every 4th Wednesday.

Only the label’s second ever release, Vief bursts into 2022 with a whopping 17-track compilation spanning breakbeat, jungle, techno, hard drum and much, much, more. All proceeds from the release will be donated to Refugee Action, a charity that aims to build safe, happy and meaningful lives for refugees in the UK.

The words 'No Entry' always seemed to have the adverse effect. For as long as they'd inhabited this space, those words had been emblazoned over the cellar. No one dared ask what lay beyond the padlocked door, though they'd come close on several occasions, but they couldn't quite get the words out. Some said they'd heard muffled screams coming from beneath the floorboards, others swore they'd seen people come and go in the dead of night, but these were all rumours... What really happened down in the basement nobody knew. 

Kahter returns to Basilica for his first solo release since contributing a track to the label's inaugural VA compilation a few years back. With EPs under his belt on Circular Jaw, Manuka and Swamp 81, Kahter now takes care of Basilica's fourth release, building on his exploration into heavy bass frequencies. Over the four tracks on Polaris, he shares the more hard-hitting side of his production, which also includes a collaboration with Infinite Machine producer Yilan that matches polyrhythmic drums with crisp percussion and driving subs.

OS Premiere: Kahter - Tell Me [Basilica]

Basilica’s fourth submission comes courtesy of one it’s earliest roster holders, the newest sculptor of the both historic and ever changing ‘Bristol Bass’ sound - Kahter.

Kahters sound has always been a juxtaposition between spacious subtlety combined and contrasted with huge drum presence and swollen bass. Making his early debuts on labels such as Glome Sound, Manuka, Circular Jaw and, most recently, his enormous Swamp 81 debut release, Kahter has consistently released club based beats that cut through a mix with laser precision. 

The Polaris EP explores the heavier hitting side of Kahters production, with huge and heavy impacting basses and kicks, a barrage of razor sharp hats and lasers brought together under a rolling bop of distant and textured ambiences and pads.

PREMIERE: Kahter - Outside Out [Basilica]

The imprint from Turin celebrates its second birthday with Flex003, a compilation featuring ten tools from new, up-and-coming and established artists from around the globe.

Ranging from 90 to 160+ BPM, the release encompasses multiple aspects of experimental club music such as dancehall, drum’n’bass, leftfield techno and broken beats sounds.

The compilation kicks off with a bass post-club experiment of ‘Gain XP’ from Bladeblanc, which leads to the combination of broken beats and atmospherical sound design of ‘Wonder’ from AYLN. Follows ’East Wing Oslo House’, the new techno-adjacent-mutant-club contribution from Ikävä Pii, and ‘Scamming’ from Lighght with its psychedelic vocals and pitch-shifting percussions. To close off the first side of the album we find the leftfield techno of Alec Pace’s ‘Ghost Money’ with its syncopated bass and mysterious vocals. Opening the second half the compilation is Honeydrip with her new work ‘Wake the Phone’, characterised by a bouncing beat and a 90's feel, followed by ‘Sentimento’, the quirky and hypnotic interlude signed by BLCKEBY. Hassan Abou Alam then brings the listener into a distant world with his glitchy robotic tool titled ‘Freeze’. The BPM then shifts up for an explosive ending where club-driven percussive rhythmics blends with d’n’b excursions in ‘Day After the Last Day’ from Diessa and ‘Rek’ from NORA DRUM.

Flex003 is available on all platforms starting from Friday 3rd June 2022.

Milan-based producer and multimedia artist Bladeblanc contributes to Early Reflex’s second birthday compilation Flex003 with a mutant bass club tool. 

Early Reflex is the Turin-based label run by Alec Pace. Over the last two years, the label has championed emerging artists from across the globe who are very much leaning within that experimental, club music realm. These artists include Sobolik, Lorica, Ikävä Pii, B E N N and more. Flex003 is a clear embodiment of the label’s ethos as Bladebanc is joined by Alec Pace himself as well as Hassan Abou Alam, Dies, AYLN, Honeydrip and more.

Finishing off Henzo’s banner 2022 that has seen releases on YCO and Peder Mannerfelt Produktion, the Manchester based producer dials back the tempo into 5 cuts of gloom-ridden dancefloor damagers for his Nervous Horizon debut. Running the gamut of Dancehall, Techno and Drum & Bass, the EP’s refined palette is laser-guided in its intention of favouring groove and atmosphere over melody and hooks.

The opening track, 'Survivorship Bias', rolls out a lurching and smudged drum break over an equally sketchy Donk and vocal sample in a Bolton-meets-Belgium chug affair. 'It’s Ours and Hours Alone' and 'Writhing' lean more towards a typical Dancehall rhythm, smattered with the reticulated percussion that Nervous Horizon have been known for, saturated and growling. 'His Troublesome Knees' sees a variation on the theme of the opener, with the addition of harrowing, gnarly strings that posit drama in the riff that runs almost throughout; An inescapable tension that juxtaposes the highly danceable groove. Rounding out Stretford Blues, 'A Pocket You Didn’t Expect' feels like 3 tempos at once: 82, 164 and 328BPM. The battering, unrelenting kicks laced over taut breaks and hats hark to Jungle Techno and Tech Step in their composition, but the drawn out and bleak orchestral breakdown, coupled with a barking, irate bassline, suggest that Henzo shows no allegiance to nostalgia and is moving intently into the future.
