I think the house here is infected with that abstract disease, I think the whole area is. I’m not, you see. Sometimes when I ask, they don’t want me to get out.
I miss my house in the East Side…but I can’t forget the stress, the big flames that devastated the whole neighborhood and reduced my house to ashes. I believe it was a riot, but they don’t tell me. They just moved me here, they say it’s safe…but I’m afraid!
I don’t see much of my friends anymore. I only see that little baby girl and I see her when I sleep. The doctors think that it’s me, that baby girl, but I can not see that. They say… I’m sleeping with my eyes open, though, I think they mean deranged.
These people would not talk to you! They wouldn’t talk to me.
They walk around with damaged souls; they do not own their thoughts!
I take those drugs they give me, though I still don’t understand.
It’s logic drugs. They say. But I still sleep with my eyes open!
