The Song started as a response to spam from a unanimous dating site, from there it went to what really gets me about the way Mystique Dances in a Woman. So I pretty much started it and the song wrote itself.

this is a Queen song. they can have all the royalties.
recorded 1988, Adelaide. 4 track,  1/4" reel-to-reel at the pianist's house.
4 piece pop jazz group. Me on bass.
this digital recording has been taken from a stereo cassette, copied from the reel-to-reel. a little bit of filtering, but not much.
singer became mildly famous on a very famous Aussie tv soap opera.

Melancholy Blues (Queen)

composed (almost) freeform on a Yamaha DX7-II very late one night in 1991. it was my little music shack in the backyard in a country town. 
recorded to a Fostex 4-track cassette recorder, this digital recording taken from the 4-track.
it was cold, I was poor, and Bowie's "Low" featured a lot in the house.
only FX was an Alesis reverb.
called "Original Syn" because it was the very first piece I had written on a synthesiser. wish I'd kept it.
I still have the Fostex.

Believe it or not… this title was composed almost entirely in a dream !! After three coffees I just had to work all the parts and recorded this in half of the day! 
The day after I mixed that stuff, which would  become - three years after - one of the biggest Cats Bleed success on stage 🔥
