Well, here we are again. So, I know I said I would be releasing a project the 1st of every month, but I'm gonna go ahead and retcon that so that project also means single. I admittedly worked really hard on this one, something that might be able to hear or maybe that will look ironic when I listen to this the next morning after writing it.

I've been trying to learn more about how to mix & master properly, going through and polishing up little details and really figuring out how to play around with the negative & positive space. I probably should've learned how to do this a long time ago, oh say maybe college perhaps, but everything is a process I guess. Like they say, life doesn't start til 29 ¾. I know I said the last tracks would be my "first on streaming" but I listened back to them and wasn't completely satisfied, and I felt like I was in a tangled web trying to go back and master them properly so I just wanted to keep moving forward. Consider this track a demonstration of where I'm at in terms of mixing & songwriting.

I would've been tempted to keep working on it all night except that my Internet gave out and for whatever reason my hot spot isn't working so I thought might as well put out what I have. I'm writing all of this sitting on the couch & eating pretzels at 4am. Those are my vocals on this btw! If you're wondering what I'm saying: no. I really want to have spiritually Cocteau Twins vocals, not in the sonic sense more in the "sounds like words but might not be words," same with Sigur Rós & My Bloody Valentine. It's crazy how long 2 minutes & 55 seconds is when you have to listen to for hours on end.

Going forward I'm trying to make music keeping in mind if I would want to play it every night or promote endlessly, I'm usually just excited to put something out, but I find it hard to return to it afterwards. I want to lean a lot more into synthpunk & Electroclash, if you've seen me on TikTok you'll noticed all the stuff I've been DJing is Bloghouse from around 2008. Is that why this track is named 2008? No! 🙂☺️ It's just a year that I remember very fondly, but I was also 12, so I'm going to chock it up to that because if I was grown umm I do *not* think I would be having as good of a time lol. But if we're all bringing back indie sleaze and getting to ride the wave again, it's cool to be able to experience it now since I was too young to experience it when it was actually happening.

Also, just like the last batch of songs, I want to put this one on streaming, buuuuuuut looking over pricing & everything it seemed like it might be the move to build a few more tracks and then drop them on CD Baby, rather than having to feed the distrokid every month. So, maybe expect that soon (or this single with a different edit for every bpm in existence).

I've been really having to focus myself with this this track because lately I've been envisioning making a bunch of short punchy synth punk tracks and really just working on them and tweaking them, because doing those little tweaks is the part of the process I seem to love most, just filtering out the little tinny noises & whale sounds. Am I talking in circles? This is also just random liner note rants. I'm super tired but I wanna keep typing so I can this out as a message at 4:20 EST. That's a pretty silly number!
