Together with 'La Cabane' resident Bendrik, who served top-tier groove during the 2nd hour of the Umtzi Bumtzi takeover, we hosted tripped out live analogue visuals by Jannes Lambrecht from 'jeanjacquescollective' during our resident set (Kairos b2b Safé) to bring life to your Sunday afternoon.

Whether it be sudden drops, pirated choruses or catchy vocals, contemporary music is informed by a wide array of tricks to keep a listener hooked. Not freq444. After individual wanderings in Saint Petersburg and Seoul, Laurens Fraussen and Alexander Coenegrachts found themselves confined to their small Belgian village. Out of this sudden pressure, clear-cut, honest deep listening gems were crafted that breathe a gloomy tension arc. The cousins' respect for IDM oozes through every crack of their ‘Dispersion EP’, fueled by crisp kick & snare interventions.

Surfing the airwaves at Future Intel and Kiosk Radio while having harvested fascination with their ‘Lost Flight EP', the need for their own platform soon became apparent.

Their label no•id functions as a spine for progressive, analogue-tinged explorations: they combine raw talent with finesse, facilitating a social experience where like-minded freaks can get together and love sound.

Let's pick up where we left off: on Fiji's beautiful island. 

What started off as a peaceful walk through the overwhelming nature quickly changed. As I followed the hiking trail through the jungle, I was startled by a fierce noise. 

Birds flew off, geckos sped into the threes and snakes slid past as fast as they could. The jungle filled up with smoke as I spotted a creature unlike any other.

My passage hasn't gone unnoticed. Fully shaken by the imense roar, I pick up the speed I'm walking at. Not long before I can hear some eliphant-like steps closing in on me, branches falling down around me. Is that a graveyard? Shit I have to get out of here asap! 

Wait I can see light at the end of the tunnel as well as a small village, just behind a vulcano. Let's run for it!

Once You Go Electro Pt. 2

Originally from Ieper in Belgium and currently based in Ghent, Kairos has been extending his reach over the national scene for the past few years. Eclectic, fluid, and ethereal can describe a good part of  his artistic identity through his storytelling track selection and the events he organizes with his collective Umtzi Bumtzi. 

With a personal music taste that’s as diverse as his DJ sets, Kairos blends his ever growing collection of records seamlessly between genres, bpms, and general atmosphere while keeping the mix cohesive and groovy between each flip. 

Having played at Funke, Fuse, Onder Stroom, Butternut, Chinastraat and Kiosk Radio to name just a few locations and platforms, Kairos applies himself not only for his own sets, but to invite and promote artists in the events he organizes as well. Increasingly requested behind the decks of late, Kairos’s quality and passion is found in his ability to adapt and exchange with different crowds.
