Originally from Ieper in Belgium and currently based in Ghent, Kairos has been extending his reach over the national scene for the past few years. Eclectic, fluid, and ethereal can describe a good part of  his artistic identity through his storytelling track selection and the events he organizes with his collective Umtzi Bumtzi. 

With a personal music taste that’s as diverse as his DJ sets, Kairos blends his ever growing collection of records seamlessly between genres, bpms, and general atmosphere while keeping the mix cohesive and groovy between each flip. 

Having played at Funke, Onder Stroom, Butternut, Chinastraat and Kiosk Radio to name just a few locations and platforms, Kairos applies himself not only for his own sets, but to invite and promote artists in the events he organizes as well. Increasingly requested behind the decks of late, Kairos’s quality and passion is found in his ability to adapt and exchange with different crowds.

Coming from two very different cultural and musical backgrounds, Kairos
and Safé’s friendship since 2020 quickly resulted in the creation of their
event line Umtzi Bumtzi. Starting in the rooftops of Ghent playing records in
Kairos’s old apartment overlooking the canals, the two found common
ground on their obsessions with music and selection.
Born and raised in Ypres and now based in Ghent, Kairos has been offering
euphoric sets and eclectic track selections for some years in his city’s top
venues and beyond. Playing Funke, Chinastraat and amigo amigo as well
as Onder Stroom in Antwerp and Bonnefooi in Brussels, his reach
continues to extend throughout Belgium with his versatile mixes of UK Bass
and breaks with harmonic electronica and house.
On the other hand, Safé has been living in Brussels for the past 6 years,
having moved from San Diego where he is originally from. With a
background digging for left field techno of the ‘00s and ‘10s, his first alias
‘Dress’ was the result of years of producing and later on playing C12 and
Kiosk Radio. With two experimental, almost beatless albums out under that
name, Safé was created to satisfy his love for a more whimsical mixing
style, weaving between genres with abstract rhythms and fuzzy sound
design.
Together, the two have shared decks around the country. With a residency
at We Are Various Radio in Antwerp and a list of collective hosted events,
they invite other artists to showcase who they think is exciting.
