Fake news has been rife throughout the pandemic, one example of which being the claim that swans and dolphins had been spotted swimming in Venice's canals. This bogus story (which actually turned out to be sort of true in the end) was the title inspiration for Berlin-based producer @guavanoise's latest EP, 'The Dolphins Are Back In Venice'. Forthcoming on Control Freak Recordings, the club-ready EP finds collaborations with some of the cream of the UK's bass producers, Breaka (listen to his Dummy Mix here), and LUXE. We're premiering EP track 'SZD Orion' here, a track that comes complete with skittering hi hats and cosmic, floating synths - sonically apt for a track that was inspired by flight. "I always think it's essential to start with a track title before making a piece of music," Guava says. "I'd recently been reading about the 1972 Gliding World Championships, in which Polish pilot Jan Wróblewski won flying a glider called the SZD-Orion. I thought it was an excellent title for a piece of music. Most of my tunes are inspired by flight; in the same way, Kraftwerk used the 'Trans Europe Express' to convey a sonic narrative. When I write music, there is always a theme and a story that I'm trying to tell. In this piece, you can hear Jan gliding from cloud to cloud with the bubbling synthesisers representing the turbulence and air moving around him."

Faux Poly welcomes Jay Carder to the family with her debut EP Entropy, a headsy blend of UK Bass, Techno and Breakbeat.

Jay is already one of the busiest DJ’s in the UK, bubbling up rapidly because of her stellar DJ sets that step effortlessly between sub-genres of Techno, Bass and Garage. Since linking up with label bosses Kassian several years ago, Jay has been working out of their studio (38 East) in Hackney Wick to refine her sound and prepare her first release. The result is a gorgeous and carefully considered set of club tracks that faithfully reflect her DJ style and energy, this one is not to be missed.

A note from Jay on the EP: “The idea of Entropy has always fascinated me – the idea that the world is always degrading/moving into disorder and towards chaos. As humans we are always trying to actively stabilise this. Which feels like a good way of describing this EP”

After a year of lethargy, SD Records returns with a tremendous EP signed by Ludowick. One of the most beloved remixers of the family finally deserved a solo EP, and the occasion has arrived in the SD 30th release.

Always Dreaming becomes one of the high points of Luis' career, of which we still don't know its peak. The EP is made up of 3 songs simmered for 5 years, and although they represent 3 different moods, the common denominator is the dancefloor.

Always Dreaming creates a minimalist and dreamlike atmosphere thanks to the dub dyes of the house, accompanied by a tech-house rhythm with sounds of the mythical 909.

IljusWifmo are two young guys from Sydney, Australia - Max and Taylor - who have recently started making music and they're just naturally good at it. Sharing the perspective with many contemporary Australian producers, their wish and challenge is to move to Europe and make a living out of music here - the 'hub for dance music culture'. 

Laz is their debut EP and it features 4 fun tracks, some of which could remind you of another producer with a successful EP on Clubwerks - SHALT. We welcome them to the family and we're confident they have a bright road ahead.
