"Kakubo’s ‘Aboyá’ derives from the Brazilian Portuguese word “Aboiar” – a chant utilised by farmers to herd cattle. The sloping beat is interlaid with synthetic horns and Brazilian folk songs, traditional compositions made by marginalised rural communities."

Entre criaturas e paisagens misteriosas, o novo álbum de KAKUBO "ANDALUZ" para o selo
Gowpe é um embarque a uma viagem rítmica extravagante sobre batidas brutas de techno
analógico e cenários oníricos entorpecentes. A artista apresenta um imaginativo
destilado de colagens encobertas entre névoas de ruído sonoro e distorção, extraindo e
justapondo a acusmática da vida selvagem, tambores aborígenes e texturas rústicas a
combinações inovadoras e ritmos urbanos pulsantes. Kakubo invoca uma dança poderosa em
atmosfera suspensa entre o passado e futuro, construindo uma jornada cinemática que
levam a antigas civilizações e subculturas contemporâneas. O álbum tem tiragem
limitada de cassetes e inclui série de remixes pelos heróis locais: BADSISTA , I.C.G e
RHR (um dos fundadores do selo), apresentando marcantes versões com pinceladas de
jungle, trance ao future beats, um bônus que cai como um presente à pista de dança.

The São Paulo based KAKUBO announces the grippingly imaginative new album "ANDALUZ" for the Brazilian label Gowpe , running on digital and limited cassette editions. Inspired by her electro-acoustic studies background and dancefloor mutations, the Mamba Negra’s collective producer delivers a collection of outlander electronics to a heady dance stew of a trip. Drawing from her Asian-aboriginal heritage references and contemporary Brazilian subcultures, Kakubo pierces together a collection of deviously jagged pieces that manage to juxtapose wildlife acousmatics, coarsely pulsating urban rhythms, raw percussions, funk carioca horns and industrial sounds with mysterious dream-like landscapes. It also features a series of remixes by the local staples BADSISTA , I.C.G and RHR ; one of the Gowpe’s founder alongside visual artists Leonardo Faria e Lucas Liviero.
