PREMIERE: Frankyeffe - Never Back [Terminal M]

White Dwarf EP, like Frankyeffe's other EP's, captures a moment on the dancefloor. The long sustained buildups have become something of an art and Frankyeffe does it as good as anyone else. The melodic phrases and arpeggiated piano lines in the title track White Dwarf scream for flashing lights and hands in the air and while being an emotive track, the rolling drums and percussion make it dancefloor ready.

Never Back, Mister and Strolling of Oboe each continue in this fashion in their own unique way, with varying call and answer rhythms, harmonious passages and impressive buildups. 

Founded by Monika Kruse in 2000, Berlin based label Terminal M has previous releases from artists such as Jeff Mills, Stimming and more recently Noir. Now they welcome Italian DJ and producer Francesco Fava who goes under the name Frankyeffe. Over the last few years he has released several records on his own imprint Riot Recordings along with other labels such as Break New Soil and Flash Recordings.

We are happy to tell you that our next release will be a compilation with five tracks from excellent artists on board with the perfect name 'The Variety Of The Mind'. For this first V.A. release we could win no one less than Piemont, fran&co, Hermanez, Matchy & Bott and Andlee & Kollektiv KlangGut.
With track number one of our compilation, 'Alive', Piemont deliver a tech house bomb just as ex-pected. The two guys create a fantastic build-up and let it explode afterwards. Everything is accom-panied by groovy arp sequences and flying vocal pieces.
When the bassline of 'Shah Parvaz' by fran&co comes in, it just makes you get up and dance. Short-ly after an intense break with hypnotic vocals comes in and creates tension. A captivating synth se-quence accompanies the track and finally oriental flute sounds come in, turning this piece into some-thing really unique.
'Mutation' by Hermanez gives us different percussive sounds swirling around the room. Additional-ly, a shuffling 16th beat and modulating synth sounds make this wonderfully spacy track sound very alive and energetic.
Matchy & Bott bring in the 'Luvvibe', starting with a forward-driven bassline, powerful snares, claps and shakers. A short female vocal sequence with a lot of space marks the central element of this beautiful melancholic composition.
The track name 'So Strong' is right on the spot for the contribution of Andlee & Kollektiv KlangGut. A bass which is housy and dark at the same time and a hypnotic vocal turn this music piece into a real dance floor killer. Forward-pushing hi-hats coming in in the middle making it even more driving and ravy.

No stranger to the Familia label, Anna V. is back with a trio of finely crafted tracks under the umbrella of her 'Canes Venatici EP'.

Canes Venatici begins with atmospheric sounds which could be mistaken for celestial radio waves over the pounding kick drum conjuring up unearthly wonder right from the get-go. An arpeggio makes itself known as the track serges on. The introduction of a melodic bassline echoes the break-synth's musical pattern and signals an unexpected directional change.

Coma Berenices is a mesmerising soundscape of beautifully balanced elements. Glistening pads give a feeling of ore in contrast to the spiky, syncopated synth line which weaves itself in and out. The energy doesn't drop for a moment as we move throughout each carefully considered section in the track's journey.

Bradyseism completes the EP. Frenetic synths and relentless percussion are only appeased by a mesmeric pad, which glistens like a glacier in the sun, centring the fervour all around. Notably tougher than the previous two offerings, Bradyseism clearly marks itself as a piece that will take things on to a different level.
