Wakin On A Pretty Day (Kurt Vile cover, off the floor)

recorded primarily in a 1 bedroom Kaufman Loft, in Kitchener Ontario,
a bachelor apartment at Dundas and Elizabeth, Toronto, Ontario, sporadically throughout 2015 (with few 'emergency' comps from 2016).

I would like to thank everyone for their infinite support, guidance and love including:
the entire Shelton/Murphy/Sheldon clan, Margot Couse, Hippo, Morty, Tasker Hull and Keith J McManamen.

Thank goodness for backups. I lost all of these tracks (exlcuding poorly mastered exports) in the winter of 2016, but thankfully I backed everything up on a 64gb microSD I could not locate after moving back to Toronto from Kitchener, Ontario for sometime. A lesson was learned.

Like most other suburban north american kids who grazed the 90’s, I too was obsessed with Nirvana for a fair chunk of my childhood.
I still find myself going back to ‘nevermind’ every once in a while (especially lately for some reason)

There was something about the desperation and messiness about their music that I think drew in a lot of kids (myself included) that were working through whatever they had to work through while growing up.

Today Kurt Cobain—if he were still around— would be 50 years old. 
It’s hard to believe for me.

To celebrate the music of this troubled dude that some of us are still mulling over, I decided to record one of my favourites in a ~Dish tuning off the floor in all of its not-so-well-mixed-or-played-&-flanged-cassette-tape glory

is an experimental and mostly instrumental EP.

I would listen to these demos often while commuting to and from work, trying to capture that kind of repetition, but also the sorts of spontaneous movement that you encounter day to day. 

During the last year or so, I became frustrated trying to make and perform music. I took a break playing and ended up experimenting with different styles/genres

This project really allowed me to express a lot, and to celebrate the end of the decade with all all the changes, love, pain, everything -- all of it worth celebrating
