Move On, the mid-tempo R&B and Electro-Pop track has a distinctly throwback feel and shares its sonic palate with other hits of a similar fashion, such as Are You That Somebody by Aaliyah, No Scrubs by TLC and Pony by Ginuwine. “I didn’t want this song to be a ballad,” states Kamar. “I wanted it to slot easily into a 90s playlist, the sort you’d put on at a house party, but I also wanted it to pack a punch with the lyrics once you started paying attention.”
