Rare Version from Raja sir’s 300th Film:
In recent years, whenever a song has been sung by Ilayaraja Sir and if the album features the same song being sung by another singer, Raja sir’s version seems to be the most popularly liked one among the majority of the listeners.  
Currently one of the hottest debates going on in Social Networking is about the last track in Prakash Raj’s Trilingual film (Un Samayal Araiyil / Oggarane / Ulavacharu Biriyani) and it’s last track (Track 4 which is Kaatru Veliyil in Tamil sung by Raja sir and Barayada & Gunde Gonthutho in Kannada and Telugu respectively sung by Malayalam Composer and Singer Sharath) as to who has sung better.  In my personal view, Sharath’s rendition sounded very pleasant and there are complicated curves in the opening of the sole charanam which were rendered impeccably. The voice modulations were also outstanding. But when Raja sir sings, a tear or more did drop down to me and I do not know whether I am attaching the emotional attachment with Raja sir or is it due to the feel he genuinely gives to a song. 
Music could be argued as a matter of subjectivity where one form of music need not be enjoyed by some people and one composition may appeal differently to different people.  When Music itself has a strong element of subjectivity, obviously there has to be a wider subjectivity between one composition to another composition and one rendition to another rendition. 
Going a bit scientifically, whenever a composer of the caliber of Ilayaraja Sir sings a song, the amount of the FEEL that’s necessary to a particular composition definitely gets increased as the creator’s knowledge and information about the composition and the creative visualization with which he/she would sing is several times more than the other singers.  
The song of this post is from Ilayaraja Sir’s top 25 blockbuster hit albums of all time (Udhaya Geetham, Tamil, 1984, Raja sir’s 300th Film). But this version is extremely rare as it was released only in select editions of it’s audio cassette.  At the first listening, the rating would be definitely lower for Raja sir’s version as the most popularly heard SPB’s version would be at the back of our mind. However if the feel factor is given consideration, Raja sir’s version may feel better after listening to multiple times and slowly but steadily, Raja sir’s version would start occupying and daunting our minds equivalent to the SPB’s version.
So, let’s listen to this rare version.

Many years back, a youngster who was ambitious to become a film maker approached Maestro and requested to compose music for his debut film. Maestro composed 4 extra ordinary songs and several outstanding BGM's including this Title Music. Except the hard core fans who have been following Maestro's Music since Annakkili, many would know this music as a famous Tamil song. 

Listen to Maestro's first film released in 1983, the first piece of melody this famous Director saw in his Direction. 

I had goosebumps at 02:48 when the Male Harmony voices sing and the title in the film showed "Music - Ilaiyaraaja".

Maestro’s unique honor to compose THE MAHATMA’S Last Bhajan:
Maestro has the unique honor of composing music for “O Namrata Ke Sagar” – THE MAHATMA’S Last Bhajan which requests the Lord to bestow humility upon the humans and bless the country with prosperity. 
The song is sung by The Late Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and the ending words are sung by The Late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Mr.Amitabh Bachhan has recited some of the verses. 
The CD was released in the temple town of Tirupati on 16th July, 2008 at Sri Vidyaniketan Engineering College. Maestro received thunderous applause from the students of the college when he sung the first two lines of the bhajan. The first copy of the CD was given to Maestro, who in turn handed it over to Mr.Mohan Babu (Actor/Producer/Big Fan of Maestro) who runs this College. 
Of the numerous quotes about THE MAHATMA, I like Albert Einstein’s quote:
"Generations to come, it may well be, will scarce believe that such a man as this one ever in flesh and blood walked upon this Earth.”
