Unheilig - This Corrosion (Long Ultrasound Version)

This is an album of covers I did of songs I like. I recorded all of the guitars and about half of the bass myself. The drums and some of the bass are digital. I had so much trouble with Nightmare's song because it had so many parts that I barely knew and learned on the spot, plus I had to use my pedal to get some of the weird high pitched sounds. The other song that was a pain was Killswitch Engage's My Curse because I think I literally learned it as I recorded it. The fingering positions were really funky at first. The one song I learned as I recorded but had almost no trouble may have been Atreyu's Shameful. I had the luxury of having the master tracks and was able to isolate everything to learn it properly. I had some fun with this album. The track list is:

Daidal is a musical project coming from the meeting of four musicians with heteroclite musical backgrounds leaning on an electronic rhythmic base coupled with a combination of computer/instruments, using effects and real-time loops, opening new musical perspectives.
The idea is to propose a combinatory aesthetic, an uninterrupted live "mix " which evolves freely from an "atmosphere" to an other in a fluid way. Improvisation holds of course an important place supported in place by architectural structures.
Daidal is a reference to the famous architect Daedalus (Daídalos in Greek), the one who created the labyrinth, jail of the Minotaure. The test of maze is an initiatory search, resulting in a new birth.

Clint Eastwood was Gorillaz' first proper single. A huge smash initially in the UK, where it remained in the charts for months and the top 10 for weeks. At around the same time radio in Europe also went mad for the song. Slightly later in 2001 the song would also become a massive radio hit in the US and central and South America. Bigger than his previous smash, Song 2 (with Blur), this song remains Damon Albarn's biggest hit. In the UK the Ed Case Refix (available on all formats) actually got far more airplay than the A-side, probably resulting in the inclusion of said remix on the debut LP. B-side Dracula was probably the best of the off cuts from the 'Gorillaz' sessions, and tour rap group Phi Life Cypher also contributed a version.
