»sleepstep« is the first collaboration between raster-noton and dasha rush. the record‘s subtitle »sonar poems for my sleepless friends« describes its underlying concept – »sleepstep« is a trip through electronically alienated microcompositions and sound collages that, interwoven with text passages, aim at creating a dream-like atmosphere.

the stations of this journey are striving for oblivion of time, an immersion, a drifting in universal states – death, life, birth, grief, desire. the titles often appear to be raw sketches, fugitive, surreal short stories that rather want to break open than execute.

the musical arrangement, in this context, can be described as rather subtle and fragile. though electronically manipulated, no production technique is pushing itself to the fore. and though clichés are not dreaded, »sleepstep«, as a result, stays away from being cliché. the sonar poems for her sleepless friends are feminine, subtle and personal reports. a musical dream journey in the form of a classical concept record – an album that also stands in the tradition of ambient music.

dasha rush is already known as a techno dj and producer. here on »sleepstep«, she celebrates her alter ego. the cd version comes with a 32-pages booklet that also shows her photographic interest and includes the aforementioned poems written by her. furthermore there is 2 x 12" vinyl version.

[PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB] proudly presents its 86th release — Mountain Altai VA: Oroktoysky Bridge. Dub Techno Star Collection, Vol. 4

Oroktoysky Bridge — a suspended thread above the roaring Katun, hanging on cables like strings stretched between sky and earth. It is often called the gateway to the heart of Altai. Here, above the thunderous waters, one feels suspended between two worlds — one where the river’s voice never fades, and another where time itself slows down. The sound of the river becomes a low, trembling hum you can feel in your chest. And beneath this bridge lies the deepest point of the Katun — more than seventy meters down into a hidden abyss. This is a place of power, where earth and water converge in tension, and a person stands literally between heaven and the depths.

Vol. 4 of Mountain Altai VA is dedicated to this bridge — a crossing, a symbol of courage, a point where shores, states, and dimensions meet. Nine tracks sound like legends heard in passing across this suspended path.

This part of the grand collection, created in celebration of the third anniversary of [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB], takes the listener further into Altai — to a place where a bridge is not just a road but a state of being, a passage between noise and silence, fear and awe, sound and light. Here, dub techno is no longer just music — it becomes the very space between steps, the vibration of metal, the echo below, the reflection of the sky in the water. It is the sound of balance — recorded at altitude, above the river, above time itself.

After the Pruitt Igoe E.P, Kangding Ray returns with his third album for raster-noton, pushing further his explorations on the edge of digital and analog sounds. With OR, Kangding Ray continues to blur the borders between experimental and bass music, and brings his signature sound to another level, somewhere at the darkest fringe of club culture.
With the massive metallic beats of « athem », the frightening distorded waves of « Mojave », the elevated groove of « Odd Sympathy », the modulated guitar walls of « Leavaila Scheme », or the low-bitrate Everest of « La Belle », KR creates deep atmospheres, loaded with echoes of collapsing economies, dysfunctional political systems, and corporate alienation.In an abstract manner, OR depicts the desillusions of modern civilizations, while initiating a positive reflection on crisis as a creative state.
OR (« gold » in french), as the only chemical element that seems to keep its value for eternity, refers to the cult of endless consumption and the absurdity of fluctuating currency valuations, while in english, as a logical operator or grammatical conjunction, OR represents the possibility of another choice, an « inclusive disjunction » which suggests that there might be another answer, a different path to follow.
Noticeable inputs have been provided by Ben Frost, who composed a keyboard line for « Or », Rose Tizane Merrill who lend her voice to the anarchist poem « Monsters », and Magne Mostue who wrote the words and sang on « Coracoid Process » as well as the vocal version of the prophetic electronic mantra « Pruitt Igoe ».
