2 years after his critically acclaimed “Ultrachroma” album, Kangding Ray returns to ARA with a decisively dance-floor LP named “ZERO”.
As the artwork suggests, his different explorations and influences converge into one point on this record, where sound becomes a raw vibration, precisely engineered to bring bodies into movement.
This record marks both a return to the source of his sound in its purest shape, with hints of his debuts on the experimental label raster-noton, as well as the hypnotic journeys he is now known for with his DJsets.
As an artist who is constantly reshaping his own sound in search of new forms, Kangding Ray offers here a singular take on modern dance music, driven by a visceral and futuristic approach.

From growing up in Pennsylvania to moving to NYC, 
Puerto rican producer, Luis Aponte has been known for being one of the most influential drummers of his generation and part of PA hxc band JESUS PIECE.  
It’s natural since his young age that, @lu2k , his dj & producer alias, was experimenting music through electronics and finding his way into bass, hardcore or breaks. After years spent behind the drums, he is now spreading his music in the Electronic scene with his unique sound and aesthetic.
LU2K carries a strong musical background and culture, but also an energy that is demonstrated on any dance floor, through his last releases and Dj sets.

A stone thrown, just to watch it fly. A projectile launched for the sole purpose of drawing a ballistic trajectory in the sky.
The Solens arc is what remains after the subtraction of the goal; a simple parabolic curve defined by gravity, impulse and starting angle. No target to hit, no catharsis to wait for, just the beauty of the flight.

The Arc as the purpose, in the form of four variations, constructed from disintegrated melodic textures and dismantled beats. Each sequences are assembled seamlessly into dense, evolving compositions, while keeping their autonomy, and their role in the global dramaturgy.

Pointillist serial loops morph into abrasive rave anthems, broken club rhythms are refitted into uneven patterns, like deconstructivist sound architectures. Industrial techno stompers dissolve into granular sound waves and filtered space pads, before being overtaken by cinematic drums and rising arpeggios.

Solens Arc is Kangding Ray’s fourth Album for raster-noton.

Dylan Batelic (Paper-Cuts) and Thomas Martin (Furious Frank) fuse together for a 7 track collection of low-slung immersive deepness, embodying a cycle of life via the ebbs and flows of sonic seasonal evolution. DJ Dextro makes his full release debut on Berlin's Second State following releases across some of techno’s most established labels throughout his long-standing career. The Portuguese DJ/producer is a mainstay of the scene there, holding residencies in many clubs across the country as well as performing shows globally. He now steps up for his first EP with Second State, containing 5 deep and grooving tracks.

Quick paced opener ‘Commodore’ commands focus with a raucous kick drum propelling the track forward. The rhythm is muscular, laced with icy hi-hats and growling keys shooting throughout. Up next is ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ with a vigorous metallic string element reverberating throughout, rising and falling in tempo as lighter keys and soaring vocals dominate momentarily, bringing a euphoric 90s rave feel. Taking us deeper and darker is ‘Soul Rider’, proceeding with low lying keys and a robust jacking kick. The rolling bass and rhythmic keys creates a hypnotizing loop only disrupted by a smooth, soulful sample and fleeting presence of lively shakers and a solitary hi-hat.

Initially stripped back and minimalistic, ‘Freak Patch’ calls upon a muted alarm, tight key arrangements and uniform percussion to pick up momentum. A devious sample sneers over the music at intervals, adding to the anxious energy created in this cut. Closing out is ‘Walk Away’ a brooding, dance floor ready cut with twisted melodies and catchy detuned loops. The title is spitted out repeatedly throughout in tandem with the crisp percussion, ending the EP on an eccentric but electrifying high.

For his next Token EP, Kr!z delivers squelchy synth sequences over robust kicks, reinforcing his no - nonsense approach to club music. Classic in its conception yet psychotic in effect, Ipso Facto is a record built for powerful sound systems during the night’s most delirious moments.

First impressions are important; the Belgian producer has never been one to waste time, and this record is no exception. What you hear is what you get — an anxiously slithering synth line makes his intentions clear in De feat the Purpose, driving people to the dancefloor. Dry drum machine work thunders throughout, locking in the Token style with precision. Moving into the next track, ‘Chrome Dust’ focuses more on the tonal side of things and its irresistible groove makes i t an instant ear catcher. Playful rides and snares shape the progression, with Kr!z swapping percussion elements to keep the movement lively. 

The title track is a true hip swinger on the B1 as he reaches in the low end of the synth sequence to establish a very compelling rhythm. Everything in its right place, and not a hair more, the percussion transitions are reminiscent of his 4 channel DJ sets, the energy always being on the move. Equilibrium closes the EP with high energy, opening up filters over a reli ably bouncy rhythm. Years of experience behind the decks can be very instructive for a perceptive producer, and Kr!z proves us just that in this track and in the whole EP.

DJ Koze exists both above and beyond club culture as we know it – his albums and remixes flying free from genre and trend – and symbiotically woven into its heart. Yes, he always abstracts and weirds out the principles of house, techno, hip hop, pop, psychedelia, exotica and so forth, but he does that because he understands them. And when it comes to club-demolishing tracks, he understands those principles as well as just about anybody on earth.

Thus he could create an enduring club tune like 2015's “XTC” that is strange, contemplative, even disturbing, bore little relation to anything around at the time, yet still got bodies moving and sweating better than way more obvious techno bangers. And thus the knock knock album, which melts a million genres and none into one another, can comfortably include “Seeing Aliens”.

“Seeing Aliens” unquestionably is a banger, its bass riff snaking around your body like a python, its high-drama strings, pianos and outbursts of noise designed for maximum crowd pressure release. But, again, it sounds like nothing else, and its dynamics and twists unfold over eight and a half minutes in ways that will mess with your head every time no matter how many times you hear it.

The exclusive b-side track, “Nein König Nein” (“No King No”!), meanwhile, is slightly gentler on the face of it: it's less about sonic pressure, more about hip-shaking syncopation. But it too tells strange fairytales in its peculiar and brain-tweaking accumulation of detail, and though you'll hear archetypal sounds from the heart of house and disco in it, every last one of them becomes new and otherworldly.

One of Drumcode’s finest, Bart Skils returns for his first solo EP since 2018.

Bart Skils remains one of the label’s most consistent achievers going back to his debut in 2012. Eight original EPs, a stellar remix of Moby ‘Go’ and his now-classic collaboration with Adam Beyer ‘Your Mind’ have entrenched him as a DC treasure. All the while the Dutchman plays a nurturing role with the label’s nu-skool brigade, regularly playing B2B with Layton Giordani and teaming up with Weska for last summer’s ‘Polarize’ two-tracker.

His ninth Drumcode EP ‘Settle In The Sun’ delivers the first productions from his new studio after six months of preparation. The title track was inspired by an extended stay in LA over New Years, channelling the energy of Venice Beach’s vibrant skate culture to create an uplifting, big riff weapon. ‘Tropical Heat’ took influence from Bart’s experiences touring South America, as an evocative vocal sample and rave-kissed melody line run alongside a wicked rolling groove. ‘Shiva Says’ is a peak-time, brain-mangler in the best of ways, driven by a monster synth line that grows and contorts as the track progresses.
