'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

Opener “SWORN” is the toughest and most tactile track on the EP, sculpted with searing synth lines that snake through dense percussive thickets. On “IXIAN”, Tommy gives a hazy nod to his roots in drum n’ bass with a half time groove that splinters with meteoric sweeps and mangled vocals—a readout from beyond. The B-side is still stamped with Tommy’s impeccable attention to sound design, yet it turns downwards, mining cavernous and soul-penetrating depths. “CYCLES”, an aqueous four-to-the-floor cut that burbles with effervescent chord stabs, offers softer shades that spill into spectral ambient closer “AERIAL”. It’s a lighter side we rarely hear from the British talent, displaying his tenacity as a far-reaching, constantly evolving artist with a knack for bringing listeners into 47’s far-reaching otherworldly fold.

“47039” will be released on November 24th as limited edition vinyl and download.
