Long Weekend

"Y Wennol" (The Swallow). The swallow migrates south to Africa. Will it return? [a reference to biodiversity loss and climate change]. Along the way, the swallow passes people migrating Northward, leaving home and risking everthing on the waves [of the mediterranean] in search of a better life. 
Siôn wrote these lyrics on the 27th of December, 2022, after a brainstorming session. We composed the music there and then, recorded a demo over the coming days, added Lewis Williamson on fiddle (via fibre-optic internet cables from Scotland), and sumitted it to Cân i Gymru (Wales's annual Welsh-language song contest)15mins before the deadline. We were selected for the final, and we performed this song live on S4C on the 3rd of March, 2023!
