This mix was recorded from the studio space in The Dais, a menswear store based in Huddersfield. 

The mix is brought to you from Darren Shaw, a long time friend of Dais and Kano Kane (store owner). It was a pleasure to have Darren play in the shop. He brought his fusion of jazz, soul, funk, hip hop and all out bad man breaks to the table. The mix features a lot of vinyl records so there's a lot more feeling behind most of the track list!

This mix is even more special now that our friend Darren has since passed away, June 2014. His journey with us has been cut short but he is no doubt putting smiles on faces in a new life somewhere. I personally feel this mix is a good representation of Daz, music that makes you want to move, dance, smile and love. He knew his music inside out yet was so modest with it all. Words can not describe the empty space Daz has left, it will never be filled. Daz was always trying to make others feel good, and this mix is just one of his ways. Let's keep his spirit alive and learn from this in that friendships and relationships are too easy to put onto tomorrow or next week, but life has it's ways and can be taken away in a flash. So pick up the phone or knock on them doors, life is here for the taking. It ain't no dress rehearsal.

Diversions | Episode #1: A new radio podcast from Deepchild

We're pleased to announce a new radio podcast from Deepchild, entitled Diversions. The concept for the show is a musical exploration to the outer realms of electronic music, and beyond.

Deepchild has a long history in radio programming and presenting. From 2005-2008 he was the solo-host of the drive-time Sunsets show on Sydney's largest independent station FBi Radio, 94.5FM (www.fbiradio.com), playing house, techno, dub and electronica. Sunsets was awarded 'Best Radio Show' at the 2006 Australian Dance Music Awards and was FBi's most popular specialist music show during Deepchild's tenure. Show guests included Matthew Dear, Booka Shade and many more international artists.

Before that, from 1997-2005 Deepchild hosted Electroplastique on Radio 2SER 107.3FM Sydney (www.2ser.com), playing Australian electronic music from experimental electronica to hip-hop, house and techno. Guests included the seminal Severed Heads and multi award-winning Pnau who recently collaborated with Elton John. Co-hosts included Australian hip-hop hero DJ Bentley, Berlin-based audio-visual artist AUTO64, and Clan Analogue head-honcho Gordon Finlayson.

Deepchild is excited to be back in the radio hot seat from his base in Berlin to bring you the 1st edition of the new Diversions podcast.
