NATHAN GRANNER is a world-renowned leading tenor, headliner, solo and collaborative artist, specializing in Contemporary Opera and late Bel-Canto repertoire. 

As a composer, his works are varied in genre, going from Dreampop to House and beyond. This page is a hodgepodge of his non-opera work and sketches.

Kantorei Choirs of Greater Kansas City, a professional vocal ensemble whose membership consists of music educators, full and part time performers, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to educating audiences by performing music selected from the Medieval period through the 21st century. We specialize in concerts that explore the historical links between music of all eras and art, politics, literature and culture, and most importantly,  all with an attention to detail and performance practice. Concerts feature a wide variety of excellent music ranging from Schutz to La Bamba, from medieval chant to sophisticated arrangements of traditional folk music. Kantorei combines these in ways that serve the ensemble's broader artistic vision. We also presents the Kantorei Summer Choral Institute each summer bringing young people into the fold.

Kantorei has embarked on the mission of providing choral music opportunities in a rather unique way.  Our ensemble offers singers a concentrated but high quality choral experience.  We will be performing three times each year.  A Christmas concert and a Spring concert as well as our Kantorei Summer Choral Institute will round each season.  

We are committed to innovative programming of exceptional music, attention to intonation and nuanced musical detail, and extraordinary choral sound. Kantorei features many of the Metro's finest professional singers as well as some wonderful young talent, who bring a stunning palette of vocal colors, impeccable control, and sensitive musical expression. Autumn DeFloria, known professionally as DJ Affinity, builds experiences the way others build songs—layer by layer, beat by beat, until precision becomes emotion.  Her work blurs the line between performer and architect: whether commanding a room behind the decks or designing immersive escape games, she treats every environment as a live instrument.  Beneath the control and structure runs an investigative mind—skeptical, intuitive, and relentlessly honest—always dissecting what makes people engage, react, and connect.  Her art is less about spectacle and more about authorship: the act of orchestrating chaos into something deliberate, intelligent, and unforgettable.

Ryan Sullivan, a native of St. Louis, is a Choral Director at Lee's Summit and Lee's Summit West High Schools and directs the Young MAIstersingers Children's Choir at the Music-Arts Institute. .Go to www.youtube.com/user/lshschoir to view some LSHS Choir performances.As a 2009 graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, he received Bachelor degrees in both Music Education and Vocal Performance. While at the conservatory, Ryan studied music education with Dr. Charles Robinson and Dr. Joe Parisi, conducting with Dr. Ryan Board, voice with Vinson Cole.Thanks to a research grant from UMKC, Ryan was able to conduct empirical and archival research on Franco-Flemish composers Dufay and Ockeghem.Other research areas have included audiation as it relates to timbral perception.
Ryan enjoys performing in choral ensembles as well as doing classical solo literature and musical theatre.He has sung in UMKC's Collegium Vocale, the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers (www.simoncarringtonchambersingers.com)and is a founding member of the Kansas City Men's Ensemble (www.kansascitymensensemble.org).Ryan has been the music director for stage productions of Bare and Curtains and The Drowsy Chaperone.
Ryan's choral compositions have been performed by the St. Charles County Youth Choir and Lee's Summit High School choirs. 
Ryan currently serves as Youth/Student Activities R & S Chair for the Missouri Choral Directors Assoc., and has previously been Student Rep. for MCDA, President and Vice-President for American Choral Directors Assoc. UMKC Chapter, and student coordinator for Leadership Development at UMKC.

In order for us as choral musicians to ensure the continued growth and relevance of our art form and profession, I feel that it is vital for us to become advocates for ourselves and our field. Too often, as musicians we allow non musicians to determine our value. It is well known how frequently people expect musicians to work for free. The frequent exchange of memes on this topic is proof of this, so I won’t discuss that much here. Given that this is part of musician culture, we have three options in response. One: work for free. If you can afford to do this, more power to you, but you kind of drag down the market for the rest of us… Two: you could apologetically inform people that you have a rate, and then apologize again for how much you charge. Or three: become an ADVOCATE for your profession. One who is capable of explaining in ways anyone can understand why music performance, music study, music in worship and music education are not luxuries to pay for when you have extra, but are ESSENTIAL to life in a civilized society that wants to grow intellectually and spiritually. This page is dedicated to driving a conversation for choral musicians with the PHILOSOPHY of Choral Music at the hart of every post and podcast episode.
