We have long been fans of Vladimir Ershov and his PROFF alias. He returns to Anjunabeats with the five-track ‘Your Light EP’.

Hailing from Moscow, PROFF first came to our attention back in 2008, when he made his debut on Anjunadeep with ‘My Personal Summer’. Soon after that he landed a remix on Anjunabeats, delivering a memorable rework of OceanLab’s ‘Lonely Girl’.

When not working on his own music, he’s nurturing the next generation of Anjuna talent as our in-house studio engineer at AnjunaHQ in London.

A five-part mixed EP, the ‘Your Light EP’ blends ambient moments with PROFF’s trademark progressive sound, and features collaborations with Mokka and ANUQRAM.

PROFF & ANUQRAM - Echoes

Urbana’s 2011 Ibiza offering comes later in the season than most, giving it enough time to absorb this season’s vibes and perfectly distil the spirit of the island. Label boss David Penn draws on tracks heavily influenced by the white isle in order to create the perfect audio companion to any Balearic jaunt. 

The compilation features reams of upfront material from the Spanish label including an exclusive appearance of David Penn & Mr Vasovski ‘You Are The One’ and also DJ Chus & David Penn ‘Will I (Discover Love)’ (Matthew Codek Remix), offering an upfront peak at the forthcoming remix package of this classic 2004 track. There is Rober Gaez’s exclusive re-edit of David’s remix of River Ocean ‘Love & Happiness’, exclusive new tracks from the likes of Matthew Codek and David Herrero & Christian Dehugo, plus new remixes of recent DJ Chus & David Herrero single ‘Nicaragua’ and the classic David Penn ‘Scream 4 Love’. To round off the package there is a bonus mix from David providing the perfect Urbana soundtrack to summer on the white isle and beyond.

01 Shingo Nakamura - Always

There are few events on our calendar each year more significant than a Shingo Nakamura release. The Japanese veteran, whose contributions to our imprint have spanned the 2010s, leaves an indelible mark on the listener with each new production, courtesy of a signature brand of progressive house that is both elegant and emotive. His latest, "Always," was first previewed in his own mix, on last year's "Only Silk 04" compilation. It's now available for the first time as a full, DJ-friendly single.

Shingo crafts a gorgeous, almost "primitive" atmosphere in the early going, backed by a soothing prog-deep rhythm. At the quarter turn, a full-bodied bassline cuts through the mix, and the titular "Always" vocal hook makes its first appearance. Delicate and evocative background melodies add further texture, leading into the main break, where a gorgeous new theme appears. This is the moment that Shingo Nakamura fans have so deeply cherished over the years: the climactic new theme, coupled with a light breakbeat, is nothing short of breathtaking.

Will Clark (aka Wilt Claybourne) is one of my best friends from Duke—I typically stay with him when I am in Los Angeles. After spending a few days on Hermosa Beach, we were filled with inspiration and wrote the majority of this record in one day. We then pinged a very talented long-time friend, Julian Jacobson (aka Jules), to provide the sax lead, and he nailed it!

Will and I have written about eight-or-so records together, and I regularly play them at my shows. I love our production chemistry; Will is a genius with major chords and happy melodies. When we are in the studio, we have so much fun that the music tends to write itself. Expect to see more collaborations from us and exciting solo work from Will in the future.

I debuted this record at the ABGT250 preparty at Foundation in Seattle. The reaction was incredible.
