Born and raised in Los Angeles California, James “J.Anthny” Barber formally known as Jae Barz found a way to express his pain through his voice, being placed in the system at a young age due to his parents being drug addicts at the time. He then choose to rap combining his R&B voice with his painful, yet true lyrics to create a double threat. He started freestyling as a way to channel his feelings, he started writing songs with the help of a talented young lady by tha name of Lady G who now goes by Gizzle. She pushed him to really show the world that he just wasn't every kid that wanted to rap, that he had a message for the world. In early 2004 he joined what would become a powerhouse team by joining up with mentors Tha’ Ril, Malachi, Joey Page, and Tony West now known as Don Mel-O all known as The Hostiles. After that he later hooked up with an independent label founded by his long time friends, who were brothers, David Miller and DJ KCity, producer and dj. That situation lasted about until late 2010, after many trials and errors from the label, and now with an audio engineering degree behind him J.Anthny decided to take his talents elsewhere. In late 2010 after rocking his mentor Gizzle's birthday party he would then become apart of TIU Muzic"s roster after Lindsay "LT" Scott decided he would be a great fit among her other acts at the time which were King & Blast, Amazin, Durty, & Evan Kapparelli. Since then he has been going strong in music and meeting various artist and producers while running his own studio in North Hollywood, which lead to him meeting multi-platinum producer Willie B. After mixing some records for his artist Mickey Taelor, a lil time passed and J.Anthny went to jail for a lil under half a year. Returning home, Willie contacted J.Anthny again to work on another Mickey Taelor project, and after seeing his talent and his worth ethic offered him a spot on Champions Only 98. Deciding to leave TIU Muzic and changing his name from Jae Barz to J.Anthny, also decided to stop rapping and only focus on singing and songwriting along with being an audio engineer and producer released his EP on Champions Only 98 titled "Two Sides" and this is only the beginning
