'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

The artwork was provided by Bill Brown, a Maryland native who lives and works in Ukraine. When the war started, he made his way safely to Germany via Poland. This illustration is an homage to Maria Prymachenko’s “May That Nuclear War be Cursed!”, which also inspired the title of this release. Depths Of the Black Sea (Anatolian Weapons w/ Black Seed)

Taken from the incredible album 'The Rorschach Garden - Second Tape' from 1991 on Fich Art Munich, this song got transformed into a deconstructed piece without vocals that focuses only on the horrifying synth lines. Additionally a minimalistic drum pattern was added to enhance the groove for little dancefloors in the basements of the heated cities.

This edit was made in 2020 and recently found again in the depth of the harddrive.

Jasmin Yas is a member of bRAVE collective from Zagreb and is a resident DJ of Ljubljana's Elektroliza events, with a previous residency at Zagreb's Queer Festival. He has played at countless events from Brasil to Japan and Europe and for nearly ten years he has been selecting and playing a wide range of music in his radio show Disco Panonia on Intergalactic FM.

LE CHOCOLAT NOIR owns two different aliases, both unified under the strobe light and hailing from the decaying industrial town of Sisak. Fiume, who focuses on futurism, Haïtian Vodou, and African rituals, and Le Chocolat Noir, an unrepresentative model who aims for his utopian dream(s) since 2000. Today he goes by his second alias, LCN, to share with us a 1h mix influenced by the dreams he pursues.

Hambourg’s electro duo Fallbeil composed by Wosto and Kluentah, is still pretty unknown despite they’ve been  releasing a bunch of EP and a couple of LP on label like Mannequin, Killekill sub-label Boidae or New York Haunted and more recently on their own label Teerpappe to name a few. Wosto, long time Macadam Mambo’s collaborater (Danzas Electricas vol. 2 & 3), sent us demos of what sounds very like « what Drexciya would realease on Bunker Records », a compilation of irresistible dark atmospheres slow electro tunes with very raw textures, complemented by few little skits to generate a brilliant album around the story of the Mockturtle. It’s rought as it should be ! And ! Little TIP for gabber’s heads dj, some tracks can be played in 45rpm check « No Go Area » and « Rackelhahn » it makes it worth ;)

Annika Wetzko AKA Panda Lassow is one of the multi-talented musical creatives the Greater Dresden (DE) area has to offer. After living 11 years in Rotterdam (NL), she now returned to the place where everything started.

She DJs, produces, runs the labels ANUS Records and LES CIDRES, organised The Beatmakers Union, has been a resident at Red Light Radio Amsterdam for 8 years and since this year she hosts her new 4-weekly show called Endlich Wochenende on the new launched radio station Echobox in Amsterdam. She is also broadcasting a sister radio show live in-between from the Fat Fenders record store in Dresden where people can come along and network with the scene.

Listening to Panda Lassow always is like going on a journey for explorations - electronic music from all over the world with an affinity to dances, rhythmic structures and mental explosions.

“CREATIVITY TO ME IS WHAT I MAKE OUT OF IDEAS AND VISIONS. HERE IN THE WESTERN WORLD, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND THOUGHT IS A STRONG ACHIEVEMENT WHICH I VALUE ABOVE MOST OTHER VALUES.”

Born and raised in East-Germany, her personal history influenced her today’s attitude to music and all her creations in general - simplicity, DIY, just do it, learning by doing, surprises happen out of your comfort zone, people are fascinating.

“I ALWAYS HAVE BEEN INTERESTED IN TECHNOLOGY AND PEOPLE AT THE SAME TIME. AND MUSIC INTEGRATES BOTH - IN MAKING AND EXPERIENCING.”

Hearing this makes it logical that after a MSc degree in Computer Science (data privacy and security) and deepening in Electronics of acoustics and sound design, she started DJing and producing her own creations next to working in IT.

“DECIDING TO MOVE TO ROTTERDAM (NL) IN 2009, HAS BEEN ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS IN MY LIFE SO FAR. ALL THE DIFFERENT CULTURES FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD INFLUENCED AND STILL DO INFLUENCE MY MUSIC AND SELECTIONS VERY MUCH. MY MUSIC FEELS LIKE HOME TO ME SINCE THEN. THIS JOURNEY WAS NEEDED. I LOVE IT. THIS IS ME.”

Her creations like the TRORA Vol. 1 & 2 releases show that at its best - global bass creations influenced by her roots like techno and rave. And Laurel Halo knew it too and selected her track Lachowa to be one of the tracks on her DJ Kicks in early 2019. In unstable times like 2020, her track Stability got selected by Dutch superstar Carista for her United Identities compilation called Modern Intimacy Vol. 1. Her contribution Trip for the Nous'klaer Audio Summer Sampler 2021describes the rollercoasters of the moment. Also in 2021 she opened DAVE Festival 2021
with her debut live set which has left a mark on new ways of approaching and performing her own creations.
