An emblematic artist of the Palestinian underground scene, SAMA’ is one of the first DJs and electronic music producers to emerge from the region. Her sound, an original punchy kind of techno, is dry and musical all at once and has quickly made its way across Europe and beyond.
 
SAMA, meaning ‘sky’ in Arabic, started mixing in 2006 in parties around Ramallah, Palestine. Several years later she started producing her own music and expanding her interest in synthesis in 2010, with a focus on techno, house, and other deeper sub-genres of electronic music.
 
The artist graduated from the United Kingdom with a BSc in Audio Engineering and Music Production, then moved to Cairo where she worked as a sound designer for film, became a music producer and then instructor. SAMA’ now runs her own Audio Engineering & Sound Design company working across films and documentaries in the Middle East. In 2017, she was selected as a Laureate by the French Institute, and during that time attended a residency at the International City of Arts in Paris. SAMA’ also runs a publishing company called Awyav, representing independent artists from the Arab world.
 
In late 2018, SAMA’s Boiler Room performance and the associated documentary about the scene in Palestine went viral and more and more people are seeing that music has no boundaries. SAMA’ was recently listed in SheSaid.So’s Alternative Power 100 List, and plays a high-profile set at Ibiza’s World Heritage Site of Dalt Vila for the International Music Summit in late May. She is currently working on a studio album.

Deep below the dark abyss of the ocean, both my mind and my body have been tucked away in shackles you see...but after years of countless dreams of lucidity...surely, one day, I will finally find a way to set myself completely free. I will rise to the top of the shimmering, blue ocean water, walk through the lush, green forest, and then I know my clipped wings will suddenly burst through my shoulder blades...stronger and more luminous than what they appeared to have been, ready to ascend up towards heaven as I turn around to find Earth now far away, yet close enough to still be my home away from home everyday... Upward I fly high into the sky, watch watching the sun and then the moon share the world in peaceful melody, while the stars provide a continuous, soft glow and tantric harmony...my eyes, mind, and body have been fighting each other for years, but now they rest in peace as they watch the world and space dance playfully to music they have created for one another to live in their world of serenity. 
Throughout my celestial rise and taxing journey, music will be my muse: constantly guiding me, watching over me, and providing me with peace and a sense of calmness during hardship, sadness, and negativity. During moments of positivity, I will extrapolate these 88 black and white piano keys into numerous rhythms, beats, melodies, and harmonies ...use my voice to sing my confessional poetries, and integrate numerous cultures and their messages through rhythm, melodies, harmonies, beats, and overall synchronicity that this music shall make us all feel. It is already my daily catharsis as a water-loving, Pisces creature who longs to walk freely, alone on the sandy beaches, then surrounded by family and friends, yet again fly alone high up above the chaos of the world into a land of ecstasy.  
So here I am, on my celestial rise, to being crowned Queen of the Goddess of the Sky...Please join me as I share my gift and please share yours as well, for we are one step closer to Utopia when we understand each other; sometimes words are not enough and universal language, cultural integration, and the simple desire to get to know one other is what leads to enrichment and success.
We are blessed to learn from one another, through the experiences we have and the people we discover...that is what makes life worth living for and music is a beautiful way to easily bring us close to one another...sharing music, meeting for large festivals, bonding over electrifying pulses of energy from a dissonant chord or tantalizing lyrics we all relate to, working and loving  the same things from all around the world ...and using it as a platform also to protect the same World we all love and always will, forever...

Ignatius Camilo - Iggy - The Bastard - Father Obnoxious - Kutta Kamina

Creating sound, recognizing sound, predicting sound... it comes from your own method... "YOUR MADNESS".

Iggy's story of belief and conviction: He is a self-taught hustler from Goa. He set out to create a vision for sound in India. Began by playing at beach shacks and dingy bars, carrying his speakers on his mothers scooter in the late 90's. He worked to prefect that quality of sound so that people could distinguish between mere music and the layers of emotion it orchestrated. Bombay and Delhi gave him the push to play the way he desired. His love for vinyl grew, and he began to be recognized as the person who's technical ability with sound was difficult to ignore. He landed gigs throughout India, and in London, Germany, France, Spain, Beljium, Bangladesh, Nepal, Croatia and South Africa. He remained true to his art form. A yearning to create his own sanctuary brought him back to his village in Goa, and Cirrus was born in 2010. Cirrus, the sanctuary that cycled the recycled, and invited producers and artist to create a rough gallery. Iggy is the director of that collective(Goa underground Tribe). Today Cirrus is the only consistent underground venue for experimentals, a place where the bourgeois is discarded and the love for creativity is celebrated. Besides Cirrus and G.U.T) Iggy created a mobile sound machine: The Vinyl Ambulance, an antidote to the cookie-cutter festival culture. He needed justice to his music and so BHOPOO Audio was born. Custom hand crafted sonic perfection curated to sound like studio reference monitors at PA level volumes. Gathering all his experience Iggy set out to make music with his team, to produce a voice and a language that sums up his entire journey. And Gandu Records was born. Today in its third release and with the singular motion of his fingers, Iggy continues to explore and build on that movement...

HOW I MET THE BASS is a concept series, founded and hosted by @marc-depulse. 

It's not about mixing the current charts - it's about your roots. A storyteller. Music from your childhood and youth that once had a big impact on your later doings, showing musicially how you got in touch with Electronic Music back in the days.

Marc tells about his project:

"Techno is a huge family. These are my experiences when I'm coming to different cities and places every weekend. Doesn't matter who you are and where you're coming from. It's about making friends and having a good time together. I have met so many interesting artists during the last 2 decades and all of them love to tell their own exciting story. So I'm inviting my favorite artists from time to time to mix their musicial roots within a podcast."
