the REASONABILISTS first came together in September 2017 when Paing Lynn Aung asked David Moe (ex-Drums) to record the demos he had written. Due to musical differences, David Moe decided to help out with the drums for live performances only. Kyaw Lynn Aung (Paing Lynn Aung's brother), who just finished highschool, was dragged into the band to help out with the bass duties. Later then joined by Paing Lynn Aung's longtime friend Okka Kyaw decided to take over the role of a lead guitarist after jamming a few times with the band.

After playing a few gigs, the band got in contact with Han Htue Lwin (Kyar Pauk) from the band Big Bag, who also runs an independent record label "Bipolarbear" from his house. He decided to produce the band's first EP album "Amour" after hearing the demos.Ye Khine Oo (Tu and the Loft, No U-Turn)was then brought into the band to replace David Moe in 2018 to record the band's debut 4-track EP album "Amour", which put the band on the map. The mixing and mastering was done by Phyo Min Naing.

"Amour" kickstarted the band's musical journey, taking them to perform at one of the biggest music festivals in Myanmar; Voice of Youth Festival 2018. The band then went onto tour around India, in December 2018, marking their first ever international festival at the "Orange Festival 2018 - Dambuk - Arunachal Pradesh", followed by "Monsam Music Festival" and "Wildernest Festival".

In 2019, an independent label "JAMIT! Records", which was the starting ground for the band, signed a deal to release the band's full-length album "Day/Night". The band performed various gigs around Myanmar, remarkably at Voice of Youth Festival 2019 yet again. "Day/Night" was released on February 2020, just right before Covid, followed by a coup and the revolution in 2021. In 2022, the band released a track for "JAMIT! Amhat 2" compilation album. The band just performed at LGBTIQ+ Week Myanmar on June 2022 at Institut français de Birmanie to mark the International Pride Month, after being idled for over 800 days.
