Izhaqo brings you a compilation of tracks that date up to the late 90s, that had paved the way for him to take a deep dive into the realm of leftfield sound. Music that wouldn’t fit in any specific genres, making music journalists categorise them into a completely made-up term of genre called IDM (intelligent dance music). The producing artists during that time were not flattered with such a term as each one of them has completely unique styles and different approaches to making music.
Tune in to have a taste of the past that had predicted the current sound.

For this mix, Vienna-and-Dhaka-based DJ, curator and dance floor organizer, মm. starts with Riz Ahmed's powerful commentary on questions of origins to bring all of their worlds together. They draw inspiration from their diasporic lives and their coming of age in Dhaka, the big city they call home and where they learned to DJ and politicize dance floors, to weave together sounds & rhythms in a mix that defies distinctions of so-called high and low art in music & dance. And they do it with their love for percussions, and by centering music created by artists of/from the global South and Black artists.

As part of the Afro-Diaspora & Black community, our mission is to center and celebrate the rich tapestry of Black, African & Diasporan sounds. Our intention is to create spaces in the club scene designed for Black/ BIPoC, Queers & Femmes. Above all, we consider ASA as a collective space of care, empowerment & resource sharing and the dancefloor as a site of resistance & creative expression

The Blood, Sweat, & Self remix EP is a chance to celebrate women in the electronic space across a variety of genres and regions. A complex 4-track exploration of self, the EP was inspired by the artist & photographer Cindy Sherman and her decades-long performative practice of photographing herself under different guises. Whilst the original EP stayed within the boundaries of 140BPM, the remix EP now extends its hand to the wider bass music scene and highlights the incredible talent across the space.
