Coming in fresh from remixing Young Franco's hit 'Fallin' Apart' featuring Denzel Curry & Pell, Melbourne-based duo Close Counters return with two smooth edits in their Double-A Side release 'IN NEED OF LOVE / WHEREVER YOU GO' which will be available exclusively via Bandcamp, with all proceeds from the first month of sales going to Australian charity Support Act.

"'IN NEED OF LOVE / WHEREVER YOU GO' is a two-track care package of soulful dance songs for these tumultuous times.

These two songs are explorations of the human voice as an instrument, using the recordings by Stevie and Lalah as the main focal point of these productions. We have such deep respect for these artists and the healing their music brings, we wanted to give these recordings new life by shifting them into a danceable realm whilst still doing justice to the music in the process. We want to honour the legacy and impact that black music, and particularly gospel and soul has on dance music over the world.

Continuing the art of sampling, these two songs started out as edits but took on a new energy as we added layers of synths, samples and percussion. We hope that the music hits the right places and brings some positivity no matter what your circumstances are!

CoOp Presents crew enter 2022 with the help of some legends from the world of UK dance music; a three-track EP
of seriously uplifting broken step from the dons Groove Chronicles.
Groove Chronicles have releases dating back to 1997 and are legendary in the world of UKG.
Founded by Noodles, he is now working with longtime associate, Dubchild.
Noodles has been working in the music game for three decades, from spinning at raves in Paris when he was 17,
to serving it up behind the record shop counter, to running his own label, DPR. Responsible for bonafide classics
like ‘Stone Cold’, ‘Myron’ & ‘Poor Man’s Break’, his work serves as a blueprint for many sounds across the UK bass
spectrum.
Leicester legend, Dubchild, stems from a musical background of reggae, hip hop, house, garage & jungle. He’s
released an array of dubstep & instrumental grime records through various labels since the early noughties,
including Caspa’s Storming Productions & Heavy Artillery, amongst others.
The duo also combine under the moniker Nu-Agenda with their own hybrid house style, and have had collective
support over the years from stations such as 1Xtra, NTS, Kiss, Reprezent & Rinse, DJs such as Annie Mac, Zane
Lowe, Mary Anne Hobbs & Ras Kwame, and publications like iD, Fact, DJ Mag & Crack Magazine, to name a few.
So to the music, a triple threat of bass music, riding along at roughly 130bpm.
We kick off with some pure ‘Joy’, which does what it says on the tin. This is feel-good vibes straight from the edge;
the duo’s unique blend of broken 2step garage fusion incorporates skippy drums, soulful r&b tinged vocals, gliding
horns, smooth rhodes and some serious bassweight.
‘Take Me Away’ is on a more traditional 2Step vein. Another soulful vocal rides across a UKG backing, complete
with killer subs, organ stabs and a sprinkle of jungle chops scattered on top to liven up the dance.
The set closes with the BrokenStep mix of ‘Inside Stepping’. This is a slightly more stripped deeper one, but still
blending 2Step sonics on top of a bruk riddim, with soulful touches and clash shouts. Heads-down foundation
business for the steppers.

CoOp Presents an all-new double-album compilation entitled ‘Plug One’. It features a plethora of
global talent from in & around the world of broken beat and beyond - some already well-established in
the field, some very much on the come-up and some brand new artists, this compilation is an
acknowledgment of a continually evolving sound from the label formed by IG Culture & Alex Phountzi
a few years ago. ‘Plug One’ affirms this electric movement, with a deeply fluid current running
throughout, with tracks ranging from the cosmic psych jazz of LCSM, to the classic UKG tweaks of
Groove Chronicles, to a veritable who’s who of 2020 bruk talent.
Following on from the recent single ‘400 Years’ by Reginald Omas Mamode IV, which had love from
Gilles Peterson (BBC 6 Music), XLR8R, Earmilk and on Spotify’s Butter & State Of Jazz playlists
respectively, we give you another taste of what’s to come.
Single two comes courtesy of NameBrandSound aka CoOp Presents label founders, IG Culture and
Alex Phountzi, inviting in the soulful vocals of Aleisha Lee to join them on the firing ‘Home Demo’.
NameBrandSound produce more of their classic heavyweight bruk, whilst Aleisha’s vocals ensure that
this one is nicely balanced between the rough and the smooth.
The single also includes a remix from upcoming talent Risa T who flips the track in a sweet UKG style &
pattern, and a further collaboration with her & 50% of NameBrandSound, Alex Phountzi on the track
‘Rotations’ (both tracks appearing on this digital single only), a slightly deeper affair with an ethereal
piano hook, and subtle guitar licks & synth stabs - Deep Bruk business! Risa T is a Tokyo-born,
London-based producer, who nurtured her music roots through years of classical training from a young
age. In recent times, she has released tracks & remixes for Da Lata, Summer Dance Forever and now
CoOp Presents.
‘Home Demo’ is released on October 16th digitally whilst the album compilation ‘Plug One’ is out on
double vinyl album & digital on November 13th.
