Selenseas is a heavy/power metal band formed in 2010. The name of the band comes from a combination of two words: "Selene" (the goddess of the moon) and "seas". It literally sounds like Lunar Seas or the Seas of Selene.

Based in south Italy, Metal Detektor is made up of five old school NWOBHM and early US metal aficionados who banded together in 2000. The band released their first self produced EP, Detecting Metal, in 2002. The title, proudly redundant with the band’s monicker, carried forth the idea of staying true to the glorious tradition despite the mainstream of those years being crossover and contamination. MD toured extensively in South Italy, mainly performing during motorcycle exhibits and opening for well affirmed Italian acts as Raw Power and Pino Scotto. Press reviews described MD as raw and engaging, strongly influenced by Saxon, Judas and Manowar. After a 4-song teaser released in 2004, in 2008 the band finally produced a full length, HOT. The group disbanded soon after and for this reason the album didn’t get an official distribution. Ten years later, three original members of the band reunited and started to write new material for a comeback album, announced for 2020 and titled The Battle of Daytona.

[ITA] Ci arruoliamo nel 2000 in risposta all’esigenza di serrare i ranghi intorno alla musica che amiamo, e che al tempo percepivamo in pericolo. Da qui il nome della band: il Metal Detektor come strumento essenziale per discernere il vero metallo al quale ci ispiriamo, dalle leghe di basso pregio… Incidiamo il seminale “Detecting Metal” nel 2002, disco fortemente influenzato dalla NWoBHM e dai grandi classici del metal tedesco e americano. Il cd ha una distribuzione limitatissima, essendo autoprodotto, eppure suscita l’interesse non solo della stampa locale ma approda, curiosamente, anche in Argentina e Giappone. Dopo alcuni anni di attività nel sud Italia ed essere sopravvissuti a diversi cambi di formazione, ci riproponiamo nel 2008 con “H.o.T.”, dalle sonorità a spettro più ampio ma rigorosamente nei canoni della tradizione della musica borchiata! Da lì a poco, nonostante il momento positivo, ci separiamo e imbocchiamo strade musicali e professionali diverse.  Nel 2015 tre membri originari della band riprendono i contatti e ricominciano a lavorare insieme a un progetto musicale condiviso. Dopo una lunga fase di audizioni per completare la formazione e preparare l’arrangiamento e la preproduzione dei nuovi brani rientriamo finalmente in studio.
