One of the most loved names on the Australian dance music scene, Kasey Taylor made his mark DJing in his hometown of Melbourne before John Digweed scouted him in the mid-nineties to play at his infamous Bedrock night in London. That was the catalyst for Taylor to take his sound and production to a global audience, leading to international exposure and a permanent move to Europe to satiate the demands of his worldwide bookings.

Currently, he is the creative power behind no less than three record labels. That includes the highly revered Vapour Recordings, the 24-year old mainstay which is over 150 releases deep and the offshoot imprint eVapour8, which topped the Beatport charts at number 1 for 8 weeks with its very first release. The most recent addition to his portfolio is Lo-Fi 45, which has seen Kasey take on a mentor role to use his years of experience to identify, sign and nurture local Australian talent.

More recently Kasey is going through a resurgence, not only is he experiencing a personal and creative renaissance, but he has just completed a rebranding across the board. Vapour Recordings has just gone through a massive revamp which will include a new online portal, merchandise and more. That will also coincide with a release roster of new music that is already creating excitement with some of the scene’s biggest players.

We’ve had covid, we’ve had bushfires, we’ve had the lot, but we can now reset, look to the future and that future is set for one of Australia’s most popular dance music artists to introduce himself to a brand new generation of dance music connoisseurs, and re- introduce him to his loyal followers.

I had the pleasure of being asked to return back to Evolution 2022 - Tree of Life festival after so long away due to the all the pandemic nonsense..

To be able to travel again is fantastic, to be able to travel and play on the road again is even more unbelievable. I think we were all starting to think we were going to be locked down for life! Especially us Australians who did it particularly tough with the extent and length of all the restrictions.

This was and will be one of my favourite sets of this tour and it was only my first gig on it. The fact I got to play for 4 hours on a massive rig at a festival in front of a super intelligent crowd made it all the more fun. 

Everyone knows I hate playing short sets and doing short mixes that's why I don't do choose to do many of either. I pick and choose my battles these days to make sure I get the gigs and sets where I can maximise my true abilities rather than slam out 10 x 1 hour mixes a year of meaningless rushed sets of each months hits. For me this proves nothing other than keeping social media relevant which is a nessasary evil but that's my personal opinion. Music is and should always be about a journey no matter what genre and unless I feel I can have to the right tools to be able deliver that for me it's a pointless exercise, especially when I can cross so many genres's in a gig.

Playing overseas again has reignited my faith in underground dance music.

Up and coming Melbourne producer Sam Hopgood’s music blurs the boundaries between melody, groove and sound design, weaving through genres, creating spellbinding and intricate worlds for the listener. Followed by another stellar release on Brain Food Records titled Setunga, Sam hit #38 on Beatport and the Joe Miller remix was charted by Guy J in January, 2019. Sam's next release, the Drifting EP on Lauter Unfug, earned itself a big banner on Beatport's Progressive House page and climbed to #18 in the Progressive House releases chart. 2020 is shaping up to be a huge year for Sam with a string of releases on Particles, Natura Viva Music, Leisure Music Productions, Polyptych Limited as well as a huge EP on Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden. Add to that a couple of edgy remixes on Brain Food Recordings and it’s looking like a breakout year for this rising talent in the underground world of electronic music.

Steve Marx has been a regular fixture on the Sydney & London club scenes for over 2 decades now after making the move from his hometown in 1996. A regular on the Sydney scene, Steve could be found at the infamous Hordern Pavillion parties in the late eighties and early nineties where he developed his interest and passion for electronic music by leading the charge at clubs such as Base and The Front. Having made the move to London, he quickly discovered a taste for nights like Malibu Stacy, Tyrant & Renaissance and soon got himself in amongst the smaller nights where an exciting underground scene was developing alongside the rise of the superclub. 

In 1999 he met Ben Clarke and Francis Mallinson and the Synchronize parties were born. I first met him in 2002, where he could be often be found in Plastic Fantastic Records or at Digression in Soho, where up and coming DJs mixed with other arty types sharing a beer and common musical ideas.

Maybe it was that year that made the man and alongside Nick Dawes, he co-organised the Shadow 001 event at the Fortress Studios for World DJ day, playing alongside Rowan Blades, Paolo Mojo and Jonathan Lisle in an event where proceeds went to The Nordoff Robbins Children’s Charity.

Guest slots at Renaissance @The Ministry of Sound, and many of London’s smaller cooler underground nights began coming as well monthly gigs in Amsterdam, Zurich and further afield across Europe became the norm, playing alongside Sasha, Nick Warren & to name but a few.

Often specialising in the closing set, Steve knows how to work a room, through skillful programming, expert track selection and above all tight mixing and is always an entertainer, both behind the decks and on the dancefloor, Progressive House flows through his DNA and remains he remains at the front of the curve as far track selection and finding the groove goes. 

Fast forward to 2016 after a musically hiatus has now firmly planted back in his hometown and birthplace Sydney. With music on his mind, Steve is on the rise again, supporting John Digweed for T-1000 events and one of the founding members of Jigsaw with musical aficionado’s and partners Eddy Wells, Neil Smith and Kate Bailey.

2017 has been nothing short amazing,  with a request to warm up from no other than El Maestro Hernan Cattaneo @ Electric Gardens afterparty alongside Guy J, Guy Mantzur & Eelke Kliejn, so much so that an impromptu b2b took place with Eelke on that very evening, something for the musical CV some would say. 
Come 2019 and Steve has firmly established himself as an in demand local artist with regular appearances for Return To Rio, T1000 Event, Boots & Catz and a host of other nights in Sydney & Interstate. The horizon of forthcoming shows and appearances is always looking bright and for that Steve is always grateful.

Here's my recent set from Elements Festival in Queensland online now for you to check out. Was great fun playing at this and just generally being back outdoors in nature again. Lets hope we can get on top of this mess soon so that we can get back to normal and enjoy more of these good times again.

This was an amazing festival given the current climate and tough world we live in right now. Hats off and well done to all the team for being able to make it happen during challenging times.
