Danny McLewin aka Skyrager is one of my favorite people on the planet. His ability to dig out rare unheard of bangers and drop them hot on the dance floor sums up all the reasons we love to go out. Based out of England, Danny travels the world spreading love through music with the group Psychemagik and under his solo moniker Skyrager. An avid record collector and dealer, I'm always so excited to comb through all his mixes. Before After Hours takes you on a blissful musical odyssey. 026 The Tortoise

A big salty salutation from 'The Tortoise', who we humanly know as Torquhil Anderson - though we'd need to dry him off and double check his micro-chip.

For this mix we've been lucky enough to have the beloved man-creature pop out of his shell and onto the two sturdy ship wheels of the Waxflower bar-boat to serenade any passers-of-port with a few rhythmic full-mast high-torq shanties. Who knows what the tide will drag in!?

The Tortoise has been making house music for over a decade now, playing heat packed sets (the fire brigade we've personally witnessed on one occasion), and of course hanging out and around the Galápagos archipelago.

Not sure what happened to me that night but playing these tunes down at the Gallery was giving me a feeling of loosen some old bonds... This set I've mainly played for myself, although there were people... I can not explain well enough the feeling of freedom I experienced that night... Playing the piano since the age of 10, Greg Foat is called one of the leading jazz pianists and composers in the UK. Inspired early on by the English pianist Gordon Beck, Foat decided to devote his life to jazz music and composed and released around 28 albums in the last 12 years evolving effortlessly from soul-jazz fusions to cinematic, haunting compositions, pastoral acid folk and electronic soundscapes. In recent years Foat has recorded for Jazzman Records, Athens Of The North and Strut and collaborated with a diverse selection of musicians, including Bob Lind, Moses Boyd, Gigi Masin, Ayo Salawu, Curtis Lundy, The Kooks and many more. 
In our conversation, Foat shares about how he got into jazz music and how records played an essential part in his development as a musician and composer.

Whether it’s chugging cold wave, slow-mo electro or warped neo-trance, the music Manfredas writes and spins maintains a wild off-kilter charm that makes him one of the most exciting DJ/producers on the planet right now.

After playing on the radio circuit in Lithuania since he was just 13 years old, his name was launched to the world through the release of 'Pink Industry' on Ivan Smagghe and Leon Oakey's prolific Les Disques De La Mort imprint in 2016. The EP introduced his unique brand of freaky psychedelia that borrows the best of new wave, leftfield disco, synth-pop, krautrock and more and molds them into motorik dancefloor gold.

With a collection of artists from his home city of Vilnius, Manfredas also runs the Smala parties at Opium Club, which celebrates its fifth birthday at the Garzen Festival at the end of January with Red Axes, Abrão (live), local heroes 12 Inčų Po Žeme and more. The club - cited by numerous discerning selectors as one of their favorite places to play on the planet - is also where Manfredas spins many of his famed marathon sets, which have led to him being referred to as the 'people's champion' in his home town.

We’re bringing the music back in the venue. We miss vibing and grooving together. The circumstances are different but the mindset remains the same. During these times we can only dance in our imagination and we want to nourish exactly that creative state of mind while respecting the rules.

Tenth Black and White Session with Ajele.
As daughter of a Swiss mother and a Ghanaian father, Ajele was born and raised in Switzerland, where, at the age of eighteen, she got introduced to the electronic music scene and realized there were hardly any female DJs. Now that was something she strived to change! The Decision was made and the first records, mixer and decks where bought. Vinyl shopping became an addiction and playing them a passion. Since 1996 she’s an inherent part of Zurich’s electronic music scene.
In the past 10 years she took a step back from traveling abroad but she still has her regular gigs within the Swiss clubs and festivals. She is also a regular in our livingroom, where she developed her smooth side. Playing her eclectic interpretation of a chillout set.
