The long-awaited first official LP from Michigan-based producer Sango, North, will release digitally on Soulection July 23, 2013 with vinyl to follow. 

Sango’s North brings forth a new sound, one that pulls from soul, rnb, future bass, hip hop and  broken beat fusing them together with seamless vocals chops and grooves. North features collaborations from a diverse group of artists like Australia’s Ta-ku, cinematic downtempo producer Atu, nu-soul singer JMSN, story-telling rapper WALDO, newcomer vocalist Brea and Dpat who produced ‘Remember You’ for Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd.

Following major worldwide support for his refixes, EP’s and beat tapes from the likes of Brownswood’s Gilles Peterson, KCRW’s Aaron Byrd, and Noisey (VICE) to name a few, Sango is poised to elevate the definition of what “future” music is. 

10+ casual releases later, North combines the best of Sango over the last few years into one seamless musical journey. North is a love story of two people, on a journey, who find better things in themselves when they are with each other. North in Hebrew as noted visually in the album art [that Sango designed himself], representing a sense of “heaven” or  “glory” are symbolic to Sango, as he sees everything he does an artist for the greater glory, the greater good, as something bigger than himself.

North will also be available on all primary digital markets such as iTunes, Juno, Amazon, Beatport, ect.

London based but, like his contemporaries, globally inspired, Joe's sound draws on a heady mix of on point drum programming and tension laced melodies that blur genre boundaries with poise and class, fittingly showcased in his debut single, 'At Your Touch'.

A combination of radiant synths, infectiously swung bass notes and a truly distinctive vocal, the overriding aesthetic is absorbing and blissfully mesmerising. The Yin to its glossy Yang lies between the beats which are steeped with impact throughout. The bottom-end pulses in perfect harmony; tuned kicks, EQ'd with precision, cut through the lower-mid melodies laying rock solid foundations for a subtle groove to evolve.  The mix of its rousing core and lush delivery makes 'At Your Touch' somewhat hard to place but all the more standout for it.

21st century soul with blissed-out Balearic characteristics, simply described 'At Your Touch' is lifestyle music for the modern generation.

There are two definitions to this EP, the first being literally being “for our time”. In the current era of musicians, like myself from London, people tend crave and look to the states for answers and are quick to criticise the music from our own home. Some may disagree – but I speak from experience. This EP is the project that demonstrates there is hope where we’re from and where I’ve come from and we should unite in that. We all have a story to tell. This project is about Truth, Love and Passion.

Before:

The second meaning of this project is its nostalgic presence. This being a story telling project, it is filled with reflecting on situations and life experiences. The whole theme sonically is driven by reminiscence; I wanted to bring the same feeling or something close to the feeling, you felt when Hip Hop was at its peak of greatness and what is said actually meant something. I was born in 1993, and with this project I wanted to give people that same feeling of when music and Hip Hop was appreciated and respected by the masses in the 90's, and bring that feeling back to my home city and the world.
