MY WORDS OUR SONGS, a collaborative women’s music project by The Warren and PRS For Music Foundation, championing female professionals whilst sharing the stories of young women in Hull.

Creative writing workshops were delivered by creatives Christina Lewis and Lou Duffy-Howard over two days at The Warren Youth Project in Hull.
These workshop saw the creation of amazing pieces of writing from young women in Hull, sharing their stories and their thoughts.
These pieces were then given to established female musicians across hull and the UK, to create songs from these young women's words. 
A challenge which produce a beautiful soundtrack to the young women in hull's words. 
We hope you enjoy listening to this collaboration as much as we enjoyed making it.

Artists include Eliza Shaddad, Jess Morgan, LUUNA, Emily Moulton, Emma Fee, Ysabelle Wombwell, Lou Duffy-Howard, The Mountaineers, and more. The project has also been documented by Katie Sunlay at Fly Girl Films and presented through art by Lydia Caprani.

Neil Thomas is a songwriter from Hull, England. Drawing inspiration from Nick Drake, Beck and The Walkmen his songs blend beautiful finger picked guitar with loop pedals and atmospheric vocals. His 2015 debut EP was described as “One of the outstanding EP’s of the year so far” by BBC Introducing and received national air play with the BBC, Amazing Radio.

Other 2015 highlights include supporting 'This Is The Kit’ as part of their European tour. Freedom Festival, Festival 8, Cornucopia Festival and gigs in Hull, Leeds, Sheffield, York, London. Including two shows at the legendary Bedford in Balham, London.
