This is HANDSDOWN my favourite set recording from summer, and probably in the top 3 best sets I have ever played. I hope you enjoy, because this is one of the few I will be sharing in a while.

It’s been a pretty crazy journey these past few years with what we’ve done with Circadian and The Comfy Crew, and this was a beautiful way to synthesise it all.

I was always super exited for the first time I got flown to a gig, and ironically, the first time it happened was getting flown home to Victoria from where I was working in NSW.

Stylistically, I went for a pretty festive and funky latin-influenced vibe, and even though it rained like f*ck, it still worked. The energy was great both on and off stage and I haven’t had that much fun up there in a while. Thanks for coming crew, both to support the festival and myself.

Im chilling for a bit now so I’m happy to be delivering something I’m so proud of to keep you entertained while I do

Tong 桐 is the next generation carrier for Chicago/NY House and Detroit Techno in Naarm. Born and raised in Northern China, Tong’s love for dance music emerged in Beijing’s then sole underground club “灯笼 Lantern”. 

Now based in Melbourne and honed skills from top mentors, Tong has shared his music in various events and venues. With a strong focus on “progressive soul”, Tong seamlessly weaves groove, funk, soul and tech in his unique house music sound.

A local producer comes onto the stage on the 30th of April! Be sure to come down for some original sound flavours~

Jules David is an Australian DJ & producer based in Naarm, born in 1990. Jules has always been strongly affected by mininal/micro & deep house tunes and the evolving flavours present in all kinds of music.

His DJ sets tell stories of the various underground flavours that are most inspiring to him, drawing much influence from the underground dance music scene in Australia and abroad.

As a producer his music has touches of avantgarde mixed with elements of dub, whilst remaining irresistibly groovy.

Since an early age, he was exposed to a wide variety of sounds and different genres.
It was Drum & Bass which first introduced him to the vast sonic landscapes of electronic music, after eventually developing the taste for all various flavours of house and techno.

He is currently working on a number of upcoming EPs, including for the Naarm label Motion:Theory:Music, who he helps to manage alongside fellow DJs Ben Abrahams & Katharine.

He is currently a resident DJ with the Over crew who frequently put on events at Killing Time, and has played for many underground parties and crews throughout Naarm over the years. But his passion remains in the fun of making beats, and the search for that certain frequency, soundscape or dubby groove 🙂

Yax is a techno DJ from Adelaide, Australia drawing influence from the likes of artists such as DVS1, Jeff Mills, and Setaoc Mass. His style is continuously evolving throughout the years, but he maintains a focus on deep, groovy, hypnotic, and minimal techno, as he takes inspiration from the 90s and early 00s era, while still adding a modern twist to his sets. 

Whilst maintaining a presence in the underground techno scene in Adelaide by throwing his first Yax Presents rave in March, Yax also curates a weekly podcast series called Yax Invites, which began in 2021 with the aim of showcasing talent from around the world with an emphasis on extended techno mixes. “Abandoning my trusty craft for the discovery of a starship from a previous civilizational cycle, I now pilot an ancient machine finally running out of fuel. The simple beauty and elegant velocity of the fabled vessel seized my mind like a ghostly charm. Obsession turned to paranoia as the machine began to drift out of high speed, making a slow burn the only option to conserve fuel. Longing doesn't leave so easily--I'll manipulate sonic waves so the soul of the vessel is revived. Faint messages begin to suggest the craft is returning to consciousness, but the vulnerability of its ancient design makes each moment a near bittersweet goodbye. Perhaps one more groove will bring the instrument back to full life.”

A native of Macedonia and longtime resident of Seattle, Kinjo contributes to the Pacific Northwest music community as a DJ, producer, promoter, and record label head. His sound has morphed through the years, yet an aura of psychedelia lifted through space by futuristic rhythms and basslines remains his consummate passion. Along the way expect teasing vocal samples, trippy twists & turns, and trancy grooves on a minimal tip.
Describing his journey through music: “The desire to play music to friends and acquaintances brings you from the dance floor to the DJ booth. The desire to see and hear how they respond to music, keeps you in the booth.” It all began with small private events in Macedonia, leading to clubs, festivals, and the Beatnex party brand in Skopje. Once in Seattle, Kinjo supported production of the venerable Decibel Festival and eventually established Grounded alongside then-local Miles Mercer. Across several years Grounded provided an unparalleled space in Seattle’s music culture for up & coming, genre-bending local DJs and premieres of touring acts such as Frank & Tony, Dorisburg, DJ Dustin, Chaos in the CBD, Toshiya Kawasaki, Palms Trax.
Alongside long-time friend and b2b partner Konifer, Kinjo launched Rhizome Records in 2018. Rhizome created a platform for introducing West Coast producers to International remixers specializing in minimal and eclectic dance music. With 2 vinyls and 6 digital releases already in its catalog, the future looks bright for Rhizomeiros everywhere. 2022 saw the emergence of the Makes Me Human events series, marking a new chapter in Kinjo’s engagement with the Seattle music scene through a monthly introduction to the international underground circuit’s finest talents including Tini, Masda, Priku, Shonky, Traumer, Dana Ruh, Sepp, Mihigh, Janeret, Alexandra, Cosmjn, Amir Javasoul, and an ever-growing list of must-hears.

Sublime sounds and hypnotic grooves stimulate her being, compelling her to source and mix, creating a micro, minimal, soul-stirring experience she calls astral:house. Those who crave nourishing sonic sessions have followed Katharine’s journey along the Australian East Coast alongside her musical partner Ben Abrahams for over two decades as they’ve influenced the scene with their exciting taste & consistent delivery of stimulating underground house & techno, both in clubs & outdoors. 

Together they created ‘Strange Brew’, an all ages acid-house vinyl party at the Billinudgel Pub, Byron Bay, at which time the infamous 'Shed' was built;  revelling in the Outback for sunset was deliciously surreal, dancing to stripped back house grooves amongst the gum trees. 

They ran eight extremely memorable years of Saturday nights at Elsewhere Bar on the Gold Coast. Katharine played psychedelic house before Ben's killer 5 hour sets, then both joined together for the heaving sweaty early morning hours.  Elsewhere won Best Music for a Club in Australia at the Sydney Bar Music Awards at that time. All vinyl back then.

Katharine had the first of her two children before returning to Melbourne and putting on high-vibe parties at the infamous Killing Time Bar & My Aeon,  always with a tight crew of Australia’s best underground djs.  

Katharine made mixes for Art-E Romania and the Microtechno Podcast series 9 years ago, having long been recognised for her way with intricate sounds, particularly with lovers of micro-house & the Romanian influenced minimal.  She appreciates music which alludes to the transcendent - both gently & powerfully.  As an undeniably charged up being she just keeps on lovingly creating fresh soundtracks for her friends’ lives. Last year she made 21 mixes for amazing collectives around the world, including Half is Enough Romania's Strangers in the Night: each session is an experience. 

Her unique way elevates and deeply satisfies at both sunset & sunrise, and she has played magical closing sets out in the forest, most recently for the Comfort Zone crew on their final day on the main stage by the creek.
