FLORAS is the new album from katharsis founder jjjacob, releasing on May 21st to mark the five-year anniversary of the label’s first output. A celebration shaped by time, patience, and transformation, FLORAS is an assemblage of seven tracks - each with its history. The oldest dates back to 2018; the newest bloomed only months ago. Initially intended for other projects or collaborations that never fully took root, these compositions have been reworked, reimagined, and refined - transformed by years of quiet attention. Stylistically, the release moves between the physical and the introspective - crushed drumbreaks, poignant basslines, grand synth melodies, and obscure granular vocals.

Each track is like an ancient, fluorescent flower rediscovered in a distant cave, alien in form yet deeply familiar. Cyclical in structure, they mirror the seasonal processes: emerging, flourishing, decaying, returning. There’s a strange botanical logic at play, as patterns and shapes reappear like genetic echoes, and even discarded stems sprout new life. Melodic ideas and textural procedures reverberate across tracks like shared ancestral material, connecting them like a hidden underground network. Some tracks still bear traces of feedback or collaboration that never fully materialized - ghost limbs and branches that helped shape the whole.

Built from ambient textures, hard-hitting percussion, and sonic details that reward deep listening, FLORAS is a meditation on growth, time, and potential. The release reflects not only a shift in jjjacob’s personal process, but also a new chapter for katharsis itself: after five years of near-monthly releases, the label now turns toward a slower rhythm - giving each release more space to breathe, settle, and take root before moving on.

“Emellay” is the second EP released by Upstate NY-based artist music lovers anonymous (MLA). The project can be seen as a sort of sequel to his first EP, “Wherever Chance Leads Me, I Will Go As A Friend,” released on formforum earlier this year. There are familiar sounds: humble field recordings, string-like textures, with an increased emphasis on controlled discord. Samples from important periods in his life are re-contextualized into something individualized: an interpretive dance between the weight of life and the bliss of insignificance. A pseudo-self titled project, “Emellay” functions as an unfinished self-portrait. Or maybe rather, a blind contour. These tracks were created without an end—with closed eyes—like a story being told as it is written...a story taking place in a bedroom, at a laptop, with a MIDI controller. It is an ode to an undeveloped identity, leaving melodic artifacts in its wake.

This is music for headphones.

With his forthcoming album Dofflin Beach, Danish producer icfam invites listeners into the shimmering, slippery world of dofflin — a bright, futuristic, and mostly forgotten subgenre of electronic music from mid 2010s.

Conceived as the soundtrack to a behind-the-scenes video from an imaginary world tour, Dofflin Beach plays like a surreal travel diary: a jet-lagged superstar wandering from a beach party where “everyone was stang-bacardi,” to a sunrise jam session with bongos, synths, and even synth-bongos. Amongst the dancing people, a digital video camera gets tossed around, capturing the energy in fragments.

“Trying to capture the essence of dofflin is a slippery affair,” icfam admits. Yet on Dofflin Beach he leans into those early inspirations and influences, reimagining them in his own way about a decade later. It’s music that evokes both longing and belonging.

From beach to beach, to the imaginary private jet studio over the open sea, this album is a postcard from a place where dofflins do sing and play.

"Rebound" is the new EP from Zero Crossing Points coming out on katharsis on November 17th, a work that feels both intimate and expansive, drifting between reflection and release. Drawing elements from several genres, the EP ranges from quiet and discrete soundscapes, to vivid blasts of raw emotions. Fragments of voice appear throughout, human yet often transformed, woven together with sweeping synths, bowed strings, digital manipulations, and textures that feel at once fragile and grounded. The result is a sound world that blurs the line between the synthetic and the organic, the remembered and the reimagined. Japanese video game music dances together with musique concrete elements, echoes of sacred music meet screaming metal drones. There is a sense of searching that runs through Rebound - it is music that lingers in the in-between, where distortion becomes tender and introspection turns into motion.

The last release of the year on katharsis arrives on December 12th as a special take on our annual V/A tradition: "My Petswan Remixed" revisits the band miaw’s debut EP, originally released on the Copenhagen label Petrola 80, and opens it up through five new interpretations. The duo’s cross-pop, UK-bass-leaning sound becomes a foundation for experimentation, and each artist draws out a different aspect that only shimmered beneath the surface of the originals.

Drop sets the tone with an ambient rework that pulls everything into a slow and drifting, yet very powerful space. J. Ludvig III follows with a dreamy interpretation shaped by live, improvised drums, giving the track a looser, more tactile pulse. Carolina Miragaia takes a left turn into a fun, club-ready reconstruction, while jjjacob submerges “Want Something” in a dub-heavy haze, stretching the sound and rhythm into a spacious, contemplative pulse. Linea Vissing closes the EP with an experimental ambient piece centered around a bowed string instrument that feels both intimate and otherworldly.

Together, these five tracks offer a quieter, stranger, and more spacious reflection of "My Petswan". The familiar melodies and textures remain, but they’re stretched, softened, or reshaped into new forms, showing how flexible miaw’s sound becomes when filtered through different hands and imaginations.

The alchemy of intimacy and devotion helps us to ascend from darkness, filling our soul with a clear radiant energy. Like a beaming star, our compassion and affection heal us by releasing our trauma in katharsis.

The compilation “No Limits, All Love” is the 12th release of katharsis, celebrating our first anniversary with 10 poignant tracks from artists novel to the label. With the title as a thematic starting point and additional references of gratitude, healing and growth, the contributing artists were invited to interpret their experiences of kathartic purgation and salvation through music.

To commence the compilation, the Egyptian Ma3azef-affiliated artist ABADIR engages us with his spellbinding track “Clearance”, before the British sound-designer Phrixus gets our bodies moving to his wonky “Unintentional Alchemy”. Debuting local Danish artist Bloszum takes the pace down again with the hypnotizing piano-infused hymn, “Beauty Is Only Crystal Deep”, followed by the daybreaking floater “Flamma” by Uruguayan artist Balas De Agua.

Subsequently, French producer Zero Crossing Point delivers a stellar spectrum of emotion on “Our Ascension” ahead of the sentimental receptacle of heartbreak on the track “Vesper” by French artist Awbluu. The energy dives deep into the trancelike state of our subliminal mind on Nexcyia’s “wrapped(up)”, as danish duo J Sliwa, consisting of label founder jjjacob and his partner in crime Lighyer, shoots for the stars with celestial cannons on the track “Light Is Within”. The compilation culminates in climax on the motivational rave-anthem “Don’t Be Sad” by the Swedish YEAR0001-affiliated duo Quit Life, before Santebela closes the album with grandiose piano phrases bathed in reverb on “save me”.

The final katharsis release of 2024 is the 26-track compilation “Physical Force” featuring a wide range of affiliated artists from both the international and local Copenhagen electronic music scene. As the title hints, Physical Force delves into the visceral, bodily aspects of music, inviting its contributors to explore the theme of movement as a central element in their compositions. Each artist was encouraged to focus on rhythm, groove, energy, and the physicality of sound, which resulted in drum-heavy release from start to finish. While there is a consistent emphasis on rhythm and a bodily connection to the music, the tracks vary widely in style and sonic texture, ranging from big melodic anthems, gritty experimental techno, heavy jungle bangers, and beyond.

Ever since our first release back in 2023, we’ve always tried to push out electronic music which does one simple thing - takes our love of sci-fi aesthetics and melts it into sonic form, irrespective of genre, sound, mood or anything else. Now with this aesthetic cemented in our first 5 releases, we feel it is time to drop our first compilation.

We’re proud to present Multi-Source, a 14-track assemblage covering the whole helix of experimental electronic music. The result is a very wild ride through an array of styles and BPMs, and it does exactly what we’ve always tried to do - put aside genre or mood, and focus on extreme, sound-design forward explorations of sci-fi aesthetics. It’s a celebration of the insanely broad range of music we’ve managed to fit into the Plasma Sources sound so far, and an observance of all the potential the imprint has to come.

There’s offerings from the full label family - we welcome back Cortical, Beton Brut, unearth, NIQH, J-Shadow and label boss HYPNA, who each present their signature laser-guided takes on club music. We also welcome a slew of some of our favourite artists right now - Ziyiz, Stolen Velour, Prior Self, Klahrk and Atrice highlighting the light, skittering side of our aesthetic, whilst Guide, Galtier, Bonebrokk and Reinartz illuminate the dark, deep and noise-tinged aspect of Plasma Sources.

As we look forward to the rest of 2025 and our future as a label, we offer up Multi-Source as a confirmation of our key aesthetics - juxtaposing dark and light, balancing experimentalism and dance floor sensibilities and interweaving sci-fi and biologically infused sound design.

Hyperlink surfaces again with Global Tides, a compilation born from trust, instinct, and the sheer joy of making something together.

…What happens if we stop trying to make sense, and start trying to make contact? …What if a compilation was a séance? What if we told you Global Tides started as a ripple in the fabric? A strange invitation passed between frequencies, across borders, through the fog of daily mess? 

Built on friendship, laptops, and late nights, this one’s about opening doors and seeing what rushes in. Global Tides is a love letter to collaboration. To letting go of the map and building something you couldn’t draw in advance (even if your collaborator’s on the other side of the world). A shaky bridge built between cities, timezones, feelings. Each track is a little rift, a meeting point where two (or more) worlds rub against each other until something spills out. Sometimes it’s raw, sometimes it’s cinematic, sometimes it’s a noise that wasn’t supposed to be there, but we kept it anyway, because it felt like a truth. At the end, all of it feels real. 

This is a drift. A gathering of scattered thoughts and tangled dreams, shaped into music by people who trusted the process. There were no rules. Just collisions and alignments. No plan. Just a low, shared hum: let’s try. Some tracks dissolve, others erupt. One of them might haunt you.

The proceeds on Bandcamp go back into this machine made of glue and guts : mastering, artwork, promo... Hyperlink’s still powered more by feelings than funding.

“Softer hands” introduces a reality where art-electronics emerge from familiar club language. Sentimental melodies spray delicate feelings over metallic, hypnotising backgrounds. Distant, angelic choirs are softly moulded and shaped by whirring mechanical sounds, hisses and swooshes. Over time, the music leads inward, letting light through densely packed soundscapes. The result is touching, otherworldly, at times uncanny or post-apocalyptic, like an ensemble of machines learning to feel. "The point of entrance is a wide plain of prolonged tones; an ambient canvas for events to unfold. Those events, although familiar at first, act merely as mimics and reveries to occupy the mind. Genres and motifs come into play but are gradually regurgitated into a vast nothingness. With this album, it is as if CYSP are fastforwarding culture at the speed of stillness.
Much like Vladimir and Estragon in Beckett’s classic play, the duo operating under the name CYSP are here confined in a perpetual state of waiting. Vibrating with the energy of a life still unlived, they strain and slouch for respite against the boredom of it all.

CYSP bio: The Malmö-based duo distill dub, ambient, and playful electronic alchemy into something restless and unpredictable. Their self-titled debut on Fasaan Recordings channels industrial echoes, ghosted dancefloors, and cybernetic oddities - crafting a sound that is deep, murky, and at times, unexpectedly danceable. With cavernous bass swells, spectral textures, and rhythms that lurch and stutter, the synthetic mutates with the organic, and the profound collides with the absurd.

premiere: CYSP - U Origins (feat. Golden Ivy) [label: mosokult]

The last release of the year on katharsis arrives on December 12th as a special take on our annual V/A tradition: "My Petswan Remixed" revisits the band miaw’s debut EP, originally released on the Copenhagen label Petrola 80, and opens it up through five new interpretations. The duo’s cross-pop, UK-bass-leaning sound becomes a foundation for experimentation, and each artist draws out a different aspect that only shimmered beneath the surface of the originals.

Drop sets the tone with an ambient rework that pulls everything into a slow and drifting, yet very powerful space. J. Ludvig III follows with a dreamy interpretation shaped by live, improvised drums, giving the track a looser, more tactile pulse. Carolina Miragaia takes a left turn into a fun, club-ready reconstruction, while jjjacob submerges “Want Something” in a dub-heavy haze, stretching the sound and rhythm into a spacious, contemplative pulse. Linea Vissing closes the EP with an experimental ambient piece centered around a bowed string instrument that feels both intimate and otherworldly.

Together, these five tracks offer a quieter, stranger, and more spacious reflection of "My Petswan". The familiar melodies and textures remain, but they’re stretched, softened, or reshaped into new forms, showing how flexible miaw’s sound becomes when filtered through different hands and imaginations.
