The audio has been sped up by a factor of 10 to make it audible, as blue whale sounds are subsonic(below the range of human hearing). Blue Whale Song

These are audio files sent by Kate Stafford of the Applied Physics Lab at the University of Washington. She is one of the many scientists at various agencies studying North Slope whale calls/songs, and is a co-author of a recent study describing 12 specific calls identified from bowheads swimming in the Beaufort Sea in the spring migration.

This is a song meant to be a real adult lullaby song. It is a song to uplift and infuse your heart if it is saddened with loss, or even just after a long hard day. It is a reminder that in this fast-paced modern world filled with its beauty and its harshness, to try and give yourself a little time in nature for respite, or lay your head down upon a trusted friend, better yet is of course both.

This song came to me the day after a dear, dear friend passed (February 11). It was a huge loss for my son and I. We were both hurting and it brought up our deepest loss of 3-years before. In order to get out of my despair I think of others who are grieving or going through hard times, it helps me not isolate in the pain and reminds me that others have also come through the difficulties of the heart.

May this song and melody ease any sorrows and fill your heart with sweetness.
