The Cheer Starts Here (Commonwealth Chant) was written and recorded with the P6 children from Braehead Primary School in Ayr. The project is called 'Creative Voices' and is part of the Digital Commonwealth Schools Project. Commonwealth Games 2014 Glasgow. The song was runner-up in the Big Big Sing competition and the children performed it on the main stage at the Queens Baton Relay and also at the Big Event during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

This was a last-minute idea to have a song that switched between classical and jazz.  Not easy when the tempo changes and classical hits the downbeat and jazz does not.  But Kelly and Bootza had no problem improvising on piano and bass. Later Chris Miller added the fantastic drums and Michael Hatfield recorded the vibes, Doug the guitar and my sister Patty recorded backup vocals.
