Red Tailed Hawk - My father always loved hawks and would always point them out to me on hikes. Two days after he died I had a very close encounter with a hawk in the woods behind my home - the hawk was sitting on a low tree branch a few yards away from me and we just stared at each other for several minutes. I immediately felt that it was my dad checking in and letting me know that he was ok. I’ve been seeing them fairly often since then, and it’s a great comfort amidst the grief. Sometimes I see a pair of hawks, and it makes me think that he’s not alone wherever he is.
