The twelfth release of the Apparel’s limited catalogue is a brand new 4 tracks EP called “Signals” by the Mancunian featuring a 4-hands collaboration with @harrywolfman and a remix by @jad-lee. Every single track has been chosen carefully since the beginning of the project to make this record a representative work of the artist who perfectly blends his musical knowledge with the label’s imprint. Side B begins with the whimsical chords of “It’s Not So Cold In Tromso” where the artist takes the listener to a brief and intense trip to see the Norwegian northern lights; the track is made by a strong rhythm section and flighty, far-out, harmonies which really evoke Scandinavian landscapes.

Stuart Millar AKA Heliotype is on a mission to create a fresh new sound in dance music.

Taking elements of house, garage and jungle, then fusing them with beautiful vocals and pensive chord arrangements, the Belfast-based producer curates a sonic palette of feel-good, melodic music for the club, the beach or the headphones with a distinctive Ibizan edge. 

With releases on Armada, Anjunadeep, Nervous, Toolroom and Exploited, Heliotype garners major support from across the worldwide DJing and dance radio community, including multiple spins on BBC Radio 1 with Cool Cuts and Buzz Chart entries.

The credentials of this fast-rising DJ are strengthened further by his skills as a radio presenter, as evidenced by the call coming from BBC Radio 1 to sit in for Pete Tong.  This saw Stuart fulfil one of his musical ambitions, with radio being a passion of his for a long time.  Having these talents recognized nationally by the BBC has been a huge boost to his profile.

There are new works in the pipeline for this multi-talented UK producer plus shows pending around the world, as once again Heliotype is set to engage the attention of the dance cognoscenti. I started DJing in the mid 80s playing Electro and Rap at B Boy - Break-dance / Hip Hop events and then discovered early Chicago House,  which progressed through all the different genres that have been created since , and still to this day still plays a massive mixture of Electronica and Hop Hop. Over the years has played alongside some of the greatest DJs in the world from Carl Cox to Afrika Bambaataa. And over the years has had many residencies at various House and D&B night around the country a long time resident for DJ Ease from Nightmares on Wax.
