Keeping with the Valentine's Day theme of love, here's an oldie but goldie I wrote this back in 1998, can you believe it, It's another song about my dream girl that I wouldn't meet for many year afterwards. I was divorced for about 2 years and pretty much feeling abandoned and lonely. I remember wanting to write a song in the same vein as "And I Love Her" by The Beatles. A very acoustic number with an accordion playing in the background, you know, very romantic like something you might hear in a Paris cafe! This was one of the first songs I did with Charlie, it wasn't recorded too well since I had an old Tascam 8-track analog recorder and it's distorted quite a bit but I think the melody and lyrics still hold up. (Mastering didn't help this song at all, sorry!) I don't know, let me know what you think in the comments. I've always liked the first line about wrapping myself inside her smile. I produced the video a few months ago for this Valentine's Day. I enjoyed putting it together and added like 10 quick snap shots of beautiful women taking selfies at the end of the video. This was written over 10 years ago as a George Formby style (Google the name if you’ve never heard of him) ukulele song - a mildly amusing message to Gal to let him know that I was fully aware of the mental health difficulties he was having and that I would always be there if he needed me.

Over the years, we spoke often about the song but nothing much came of it until Gal suggested slowing the tempo and giving it a kind of shuffle beat. As it was about him, I thought he should definitely sing the lead vocal, which I think works rather well. (*Vocalist’s note: It would help if I could still sing…)

You’ll find many personal references to Gal’s life in the lyrics. At the time it was written, he was 63, literally a fatal age for men in the extended Reeves family and he wasn’t having the best of times himself, still wrestling with the grief of a marriage break-up alongside the loss of his big brother and closest friend less than a year before. But even with all of this going on (and not always out of choice) he found there were plenty more mountains to climb.

The transition of the tune from Formby to Albers is a story in itself but suffice it to say that Hans somehow managed to transform it into this rather poignant opus.  He has also made a beautiful film to accompany the piece (see link above). All in all, it testifies perfectly to the reason why Gal’s cleats are somewhat care-worn...and he still has many mountains yet to climb.. (Terry Reeves)

Another acoustic song taken on by Mighty Mike Fox for This Sound Society project.
Can’t thank him enough for his efforts,  skills & enthusiasm for the ideas. A double busy top bloke.
This song is about a personal experience a long time ago that still to this day can hurt when mentioned.
Then 20 years after the dust as settled the opportunity arises out of the blue to cut to the chase and talk truth & transparency about the situation.
Always two sides to a story and their version strangely favours the brave but they take no responsible for their actions and the feelings of others after they shit on you from a great height after you have been always helpful & decent to them. 
You may still love these people and forgive them but you never forget.
So it’s about people who are close to you wether it’s family or friends. 
We have probably all been there and feel betrayed but because of who they are you rise above to be a better person. 
They don’t change with time just turn inside out.
They will still be out for number one and would sell their Granny for personal gain .
To be deceitful, lie and play you like a fiddle leaving you in the dark.
This Sound Society gives you the second track of 2025.
