One Last Glance

The piece describes a scene of spring returning to a meadow in the mountains. It starts out with the harp and is joined by solo clarinet and english horn with a light, skipping, jig like melody with counter melodies in the flutes. The piece then broadens to feature the strings and brass. The horns take the melody with a soaring counter in the trumpets. The percussion beats steadily louder until it reaches a crescendo and then fades to hand the melody back to the clarinets and double reeds with a final woodwind section feature with celeste accompaniment.

Spring In The Meadow

My take on Wexford Carol. The piano line comes in with a simple accompaniment and is then joined by the strings and brass fanfare before the vocal comes in and sets the stage with the first verse. The strings and Horn play a fanfare again and the drums come in signifying a journey for the shepherds in verse 2. The horns play the melody in the interlude and the piano, drums and horn drop for verse 3 when the shepherds witness the Holy Birth. The drums come back on verse 4 in signifying our journey in considering all that was done for us by our Savior's coming.

A fun Christmas Piece using Spitfire Labs mallets, Spitfire Frozen Strings (Col Legno and Mandolin Plucks on orchestral string instruments as well as the flautando for the long passages), Spitfire Labs Sleigh Bells, Spitfire Epic Woodwinds, Spitfire Media Toolkit, and Spitfire Cinematic Percussion. I quoted "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" in the middle of playing a bouncy sneaky jazz theme.

Secret Santa

An aggressive entry with hits on the bass drum, timpani, and metal with short brass. The brass enters with an aggressive inevitable dread melody. The trombones and trumpets then enter with a huge but hopeful melody counterpointed in the ascending and descending horn line. The woodwinds then play a mysterious melody before an ominous and quiet exit with a cautiously hopeful ending.

The Wrath of the Star Empire

Written in fast 7s, the piece starts out with a single Marimba note joined by rhythmic short strings and arpeggiated glockenspiel. The Horns come in with a heroic melody before being joined by the trombones, low instruments and the percussion ensemble. The melody gives way to a gliding piano and choir with a sweet piccolo melody before a crescendo into a massive epic fanfare.
