Hey guys! So I wrote this bad boy in a day so please excuse the lyrics, they’re like Twilight level angst (yikes am I right?) I also really apologise for being so inactive this past year. I kinda hit a brick wall of self doubt and all those fun existential crisis related things, but Joel (from RoomieOfficial) has actually really inspired me the past few months to get back into writing and learning how to produce/mix (working on HEAPS of ideas right now so stay tuned!), I only discovered his channel quite recently, but I really enjoy watching his whole process as a musician (and hearing him sing cuz goddamn jesus vocals christ) and LOVE his sense of humour.

I saw this challenge and thought it would be the perfect way to throw my lard ass out of it’s comfort zone (I’m kinda a perfectionist and with only 5 days I really couldn’t be) and I’m honestly really happy with how it turned out. The mixing is like a colossal wedgie on Thanksgiving so I apologise in advance! But I hope you guys enjoy this and are having an amazing holiday season so far x Biggest love to you all and thank you so much for listening to my trash beats xo

Hey everyone! (Wear headphones if you can!) I have an early little Christmas gift for you all. Here is a song I wrote last year. The meaning has shifted and changed to me over the year, and it dawned on me the past few days (seeing people so manic and stressed about the holidays) that now is the time to post it. This is a song for all of you who are worried you haven’t given enough, haven’t spent enough, haven’t been enough. You were. This is a song about appreciating the bonds we share and have created in this year and in all directions of time. This is song for all of you out there who are alone on Christmas or maybe can’t be home for it with your real families (and/or the people you hold dear). It’s also for those of you who don’t have that family/support network yet or have been through big changes this year and feel like your family dynamic has shifted. The pain of being alone and unheard is a big one and I hope that this song will be what you need to hear to feel validated and heard this holiday season. Let this song understand and listen with a kind ear because it will. It will also be here for you when you do meet that amazing support network, because you will x I recorded it in a day so I apologise if it feels rushed, but remember, it’s the thought that counts. Kaycee Morgan is a singer-songwriter based in Brisbane, Australia. She predominantly writes Indie-Pop and refers to her sound as “the old man’s Billie Eilish”; although, she has been known to dabble in others genres such as blues, folk and country. Throughout her short career, Kaycee has been a frequent performer at the Gladstone Harbour Festival, the RAW Artists Showcase and Under the Trees Festival. She has also performed alongside artists such as Tones & I, Fat Picnic and Z-Star Trinity. 

Kaycee describes herself as a whimsical storyteller who captures the human experience in a series of ‘fly on the wall’ snapshots. If, in fact, a fly on the wall had empathy, an overactive imagination and was fuelled by $6 bottles of wine. Kaycee recites her influences as being Missy Higgins, Joni Mitchell, Paul Kelly and Jessica Mauboy, describing them as “artists who understand how to put life into words, and emotions into music.” Like her influencers, Kaycee aims to address the difficult topics and experiences one endures throughout all walks of life, and these topics are not limited to the years of youth, despite her age. However, it’s not all heartbreak and rego payments. Kaycee also writes about more humorous recounts, such as the modern dating experience and Netflix shows that she depicts as “seriously sub-par”. Kaycee describes her intention for her listeners as being “the listening ear you always need, but also the fella that cheers you up afterward.”

Kaycee uploads weekly covers and originals to her Facebook, Instagram and Youtube pages, which can be found with at the handle: @KayceeMorganMusic, and is currently working on her album which she hopes to release later this year.
