Canadian Alternative Rock Band. 4 albums and a 5th on the way.
Their latest singles "Calloused Heart" and "Soul Declares" which have received radio play on iHeart Radio, Stingray Music and SIRIUS XM.
 WHY album "THE LAZARUS EFFECT" had copies of the album given out before U2 concerts in Ottawa and Montreal and were made available at Make Poverty History. A portion of the proceeds from the album went OXFAM. 
 
2007 WHY released the album “RED” The single (and title track) "RED" sat at #1 on the KICK FM Winnipeg Top 40 for 4 weeks in a row, and was named "Song of the Year". Second single, "The Surface" hit #1 on KICK FM and #5 on THE Q FM in Victoria, BC. 
 
2010 an early demo of "PRISONER of HOPE" was released supporting UNICEF's work in Haiti. 100% of the song’s iTUNES profits go directly to UNICEF. 
 WHY have played festivals, have been a opening act for recording artists: DANKO JONES, ILL SCARLETT, EDGAR WINTER and UNCLE KRACKER... WHY headlined the 2024 Winnipeg FRINGE FESTIVAL main stage for 2 nights. The band were nominated for 6 Manitoba LOUD Awards in 2024.
WHY were voted “Best Rock Band In Canada” by INTEL CANADA star search.
WHY where invited by Bono's organization ONE, to film a performance of a iconic Protest Song to be part of Bono's brainchild Agit8 for the G8 to draw attention to extreme poverty. WHY covered The Stones "Gimme Shelter" and invited beloved Winnipeg R&B singer FLO to join the rooftop performance. 
 WHY's performance is featured on ONE.org international site.
WHY were the only Canadian rock band asked to participate.

Other artists involved : MUSE, U2, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, GREEN DAY, Tom Morello, Sting, MUMFORD AND SONS, Elvis Costello, One Direction, AEROSMITH, USHER, Will-Iam... 
were also featured in the ONE campaign's Trailer for Agit8. 
WHY released their album "The Leap" in 2013.

Nov 2019 “Despite All Of The Darkness” was finally released. 5 videos for the album have been created. 
WHY released the single  "Soul Declares" at the end of 2024. The song will be on the next album.

Who are The Manic Shakes?

The Manic Shakes are a foursome of disaster rock loving super humans hailing from Canada’s rock and roll capital (A.K.A. Winnipeg MB). Their sound has been described as “dirty, punk rock-inflected garage pop punctuated by giant, Dinosaur Jr. Guitars”. Featuring ex-members of Fists In, Ex Modern Teen, Mary Jane Stole My Girl and Mama Funk, The Manic Shakes have been rockin, rollin and leaving destruction in their wake since 2010.

In 2012 they released their debut Self Titled 7', which went to # 1 on CKUW and spent 6 weeks in the top 10 on UMFM. The 7' - pressed on turquoise vinyl - elicited favorable reviews from Stylus Magazine and Uptown Magazine.

Somewhere amidst the hoopla they found the time to make a music video for their song “Fire Hazard” and play numerous shows in and around Winnipeg. Some highlights being: rocking the Canada Day Streetfest in Osborne Village and playing a diverse series of opening slots for The Slates (Edmonton AB), The Secret Broadcast (Toronto ON) and Winnipeg's own Mahogany Frog.

What’s next for these slaves to “chaos rock”? Another 7” in the spring? Maybe an E.P. in the fall? What surprises do these guys have up their sleeves? Stay tuned because the answers to these questions and more are just around the corner.

In the summer of 2010 Geoff Thompson (bass and vocals) and Trevor Lux (guitar and vocals) decided to give it one last go in the Manitoba music scene.  Both had played in multiple local bands and tasted small amounts of success, but neither felt that they were making the kind of music that was residing in their hearts.  Committed to keeping it simple and maintaining a focused approach to song writing, they set off to find a drummer that could round out their sound.  It took until the following year for them to find the right fit in Rodrigo Ramirez who graciously stepped in and complimented the new material with his own flair and energy.  With the 3 piece line up cemented, Callida (which means to be characterized by intense emotion) began work on their first album right away and playing shows whenever they could.

Throughout the next year, the trio began self-recording all the material they could and after 12 months of hard work they were delivered the biggest challenge of their musical careers.  A computer malfunction left them with a year’s worth of work lost and the daunting task of starting over again from the beginning.  However, from the ashes of that disaster the band emerged more committed than ever and set off on the aggressive path of starting over.  The result is their first EP release “Sedulity”which exemplifies the hard work and integrity necessary to overcome such a set back.  With a summer 2014 release date set, the band now turns their attention to sharing their lyrically driven, prairie inspired hard rock with the world and awaiting the next step in their musical career.

dj/musician/artist with eclectic musical tastes. started in the early 90s on 1200s and pre-cdj denons. returned to the booth a few years ago as a primarily midi-based dj who plays out regularly.

ran out of space, so i deleted some maschine loops. will be using this account for live offthecuff dj remixes only going forward and will set up another for original compositions and full remixes [link to come].
