“Bottle of Whiskey”, my attempt at a drinking song, is one of a handful of pieces which paying (and not-so-paying) customers would actually request and sing along with.   It is easy to perform solo because of the simplicity and directness of the lyrics.   It is also easy to perform in a band, or impromptu with other musicians, because there is nothing complicated about the music.
     This version features only two instruments, a lap steel and an overdubbed rhythm guitar ... hence the count-in … which, made after the recording of the lap steel, sounded so odd and out of time that I couldn't resist keeping it.

As I get older -  try to stay sober - just long enough to realize it ain't over but it's getting colder - my knees getting weaker - I'm learning to stand all over again.
Seems that I've gone through - so many changes - what's left to conquer - am i getting so bored that i can't concentrate on the main goal - which nowadays is completely blurred
So leave me be with bottles and cans just let me reflect on the strange man that i am - we feel the conjecture in our tones - we're avoiding what we already know - If you look deeper beneath the layers of film in my eyes as they thicken every time i sip a sorrow away - it get's harder each day - putting on the show
My eyes will stay focused mainly on the next task – just as long as up my sleeve I find my flask – and while I’m submerged in all these urges and it’s hard to remember just where I am.
Still I’m remiss to ask you just what I was saying cause that’s all my mind will allow me to handle at this time I’m fading slowly degrading – I fell off earth long ago  –So leave me be with bottles and cans just let me reflect on the strange man that  i am - we feel the conjecture in our tones - we're avoiding what we already know - If you look deeper beneath the layers of film in my eyes as they thicken every time i sip a sorrow away - it get's harder each day - putting on the show

Lonely Heart

Jambalaya (On The Bayou) was first released in 1952...thank you Hank Williams (RIP) for the vision to create it. I first heard it played by Creedence CR then my favourite performer, Fats Domino.

Jambalaya was heavily influenced by another song written in 1948 called Grand Texas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz7OfVdIG48) penned by Louisiana born musician Julius Lamperez or as he was known in the music business, Papa Cairo. 

Lyrics (by Hank Williams and maybe Moon Mullican. Moon did get royalties from the song).

I have changed the original words a little bit, left some out and moved things around. I also gave it a different rhythm.

Im from Melbourne Australia, I have been playing guitar for many years now and played in two bands during the 80's & 90's (STOLEN CAR original) & (STORM cover),both bands never released any material.
